Winning all three would be unreal. I don’t think I can name a single current kart driver who has the skill in all three disciplines to pull that off. Maybe Mark Dismore, Lake Speed, or Tod Miller in their primes. I’d be shocked if there’s anybody today versatile enough to pull off winning all three in the same weekend.
Like you said, it would be really cool just to see somebody figure out a way to race in all three, and then actually do it. Even a podium in two of the three would be pretty amazing. Either way, it’s a loooooooong weekend.

David, back when WKA did the North American Karting Championships at Charlotte Motor Speedway (early 2000s), did anybody do the triple there? I know Travis Firing and a couple other guys ran Gold Cup and the Briggs and Stratton 300. Do you know of anybody that tried to do all three, Gold Cup, 300, and Road Race? Tod Miller maybe?

Depends on how the three schedules fall together and which teams are willing to support.
ManCup: Yamaha, Leopard or X30
RoadRace: Any of the Yamaha, TaG, or Animal classes
Dirt: Any clone or champ class that fits the scheduling

Would be a fun challenge for sure. Definitely willing to have a go at the triple if somebody is willing to back it.
Would need to get the required road race licence from WKA as well I’m sure.

Haha good call DC. I mean on a BIG road course. Sprint I’m good to go, dirt I’ll be good to go after a couple sessions (hopefully), but would need a little testing on a road course.

That Daytona triple idea sounds awesome. No way I could afford to do something like that, but if somebody’s crazy enough to fund it and get me some practice time on a road course, I’m crazy enough to do it.

trey has surpassed 1000 laas! The race is scheduled to end in about half an hour, and Trey is taking a short break before finishing the last few laps. Between the hours of 3:30 and 7am it was a little cold, and Trey resorted to warming himself up during breaks with a run to the actual bathroom (not a port-a-jon) and push the hand warmer to warm up a bit. Drew ended up staying up all night, with Dad along side. Mom and the wife decided to head back to the hotel for the night and get some rest, because someone needs to drive home today! The pugs came back to the track since they would have been upset if they were left in the hotel again. They are enjoying all of the attention! Trey is back out here for his last stint! Lets cheer him on for the final push!

Trey is still driving and chugging along. Over 500 laps in. Still in last place, but the other teams dont need to take extended breaks. Consistently between 60 and 62 seconds on each lap. There are faster karts lapping him, causing him to be a little slower – but hey, he’s doing this by himself! Family friends have left except for Jason, who we have temporarily left to be Treys spotter while brother Drew takes a well deserved break. Although Drew did get his dinner delivered to him from the other family members :)

Rain came back for a little while, and wind has picked up. Temperatures down to about 60 degrees. Brother Drew has been great keeping up on times and Pitt stops, while the wife mixes up some nutrients for my camelback. Drank a smoothie of bananas, almond milk, and peanut butter. Had to switch over my nutrients because my stomach was feeling bad. Doing ok for now! Some old friends of the family stopped by – the Connoles. Their son Jason is a few years younger than Trey, and the entire family has racing in their blood. Jason was helping Drew out for awhile, monitoring pit stops and keeping moral support.

Trey is racing great a few hours in. Got t-boned in the side by the leader, but no issues. Feeling good after my first two stops, and the next one he’ll try to drink a smoothie for lunch. The registration team came around with food and t-shirts for everyone. One interesting thing though – they brought out a porta-potty just for Trey to use, but announced this morning everyone can use it. It’s not in the general area of the teams, but Trey has had to wait when he pits to use the bathroom. Now it looks like someone will have a new job during the pit session!

trey qualified ninth and started the race with some rain. He’s actually not too worried about the rain because he is used to it – the first 24 hour attempt had plenty of rain! It’s about 65 degrees outside but feels a little colder with the rain and some wind. All of the drivers seem to be taking it pretty easy with the weather and no big issues yet. Little brother Drew is keeping lap times for the first stint to see how things progress, and the family is here for moral support! Some old friends are expected to stop by today to help as well, so we’ll soon have more people in the tent. Thanks!
