Why do some kart MFG's make different wheelbase sizes ?

Looking at some Kart Mfg literature I have noticed that some companies are making senior karts for the same application ,be it Rotax or Shifter whatever but are offering it in different wheelbase sizes . Why is  that ? any advantages to making a particular choice ?

I know they do it in cadet karts because the shorter wheelbase karts will tend to be faster on super tight tracks, and longer wheelbase is more stable on fast sweeping stuff.  Maybe the same reason in senior karts.  Its also entirely possible that it does nothing noticeable at all and its just a ploy to sell more karts…aka Marketing. :)
