I read an article that said it was important to know the rules of Kart Racing, but when I looked, I didn’t see them on any website. I am also wondering if for different series there are different rules. I was interested in Monterey Bay Karters rules, KPX series rules, Challenge of Americas and SKUSA rules. Looking on their sites, it wasn’t obvious where the rules were posted.

When I went to check out a Rotax Challenge at Sonoma, there was a whole bunch of rule violations with penalties posted. A lot of these I didn’t even know the rule. Even more reasons to find out.

      You haven’t looked well enough.

For the Challenge of the Americas, there is menu item called ‘Rules’ that has all the different regulations you must know: http://www.rotaxchallenge.com/

      SKUSA: http://www.superkartsusa.com/rulebook.html

      KPX: https://kpxracing.com/kartingchampionship/

Monterey Bay: https://www.montereybaykarters.com/ – go to About MBK

I found on the MBK site they follow IKF rules. I see on the IKF site I have to purchase the rulebook for $30. Does anyone actually do this?

When I raced RC, I had to be a member of a sanctioning body like the IKF for some tracks. What memberships do I need to race?

Memberships depend on where you race. Most of the time at the local level, you don’t have to be a member of anything – however – it is encouraged to joined the local club to be involved more. Regional level may require a series/sanctioning body membership, others don’t. Most of the national events you need to be a member with the organization (IKF, WKA, SKUSA, etc.)

The SKUSA link you gave me had their rules. I will read the relevant sections and that will help.

I read the relevant SKUSA rules. I see why they article said I should read them. There were a lot of things I didn’t know, that I see are pretty important. Thanks again everyone.
