LSGP 2014 will again take place in Lockhart, Texas on March 1 &2 just 19 miles from the Austin airport. We are really excited about the improvements being made to the streets by Lockhart and some of the infrastructure improvements our team is making. We will have 20% more DOT plastic barricades and a new amber strobe light system at all of the corners. You can follow us here on EKN and Facebook for up to the minute news and at http://www.lonestargrandprix.us for general news. We will be updating the website in the next few weeks. Online entry will open on 10.1.13 and you will find the process much simpler.

We are really looking forward to having Texas Tony LaPorta, Rob Howden and Ken Walker in the broadcast tent for LSGP 2014. We are honored to have as much talent joining us on the broadcast as on the track.
Classes will be limited to 45 karts and the adult classes continue to have the 20 kart minimum.
We will run the same 10 classes as last year.
The main events are increased to 15 laps.
More interviews and info coming.
Thanks for continuing to follow us here and on Facebook. <span style=”color: #000000; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; white-space: nowrap; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469);”>https://www.facebook.com/texaslonestargrandprix?ref=hl</span>

We have made a number of updates to the LSGP website in preparation for the opening of online registration on 10.1.13. The competition schedule is updated as well as other parts of the site. Take a look at http://www.lonestargrandprix.us.
We have also finalized the process for the selection of the LSGP driver who will attend the 2014 Granja 500 in Brazil courtesy of MG Tires. The winners of the following classes will appear on stage at the end of the awards presentation and draw from a hat to determine the driver who attends the Granja:
Stock Honda Light
Stock Honda Heavy
The Granja is a world famous endurance race regularly raced by F1 and Indy Car racers and takes place in late November or early December each year.
The spec tire for all classes for LSGP 2014 will be the MG Yellow and you will purchase it online from LSGP for $212 per set. You must qualify and race on the same set of tires. You may practice on the tire of your choice.
Look for move interviews of LSGP racers on our FB page over the next few weeks including Ms. Sabre Cook, Josh Lane and others.

The Chonda Class at LSGP 2014 will have 2 divisions. The minimum weight for the Light Division is 385 lbs. The minimum weight for the Heavy Division is 405. The classes will race together but be scored separately. Last year this affordable spec class had 37 entries. This year we expect it to reach the maximum limit of 45 karts for the whole class.
September 30, 2013 at 6:46 am #11721
The weights that we proposed for the Chonda class are too high. Current feedback is suggesting 365 for the Light Division and 395 for the heavy Division. That would put our Light Divisions at close to the weight for most club’s Medium Class but our thinking is that it is easier to add weight than take it off. We will continue to keep you posted on the discussion.

Entries continue to look really good.
We have had some questions about why racers must purchase a set of tires from us. Thank you for the questions.
We sell the tires to cover the cost of the race including the KRN Broadcast, jumbotron, barricades and other materials needed to put on the race.
In order to keep the costs down we only require you to purchase one set of tires no matter how many classes that you race on them. You may purchase up to 1 set of tires for every class that you race in. All qualifying and racing will be done on MG tires purchased from LSGP.

<span style=”font-family: ‘lucida grande’, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: #ffffff;”>he LSGP Team has talked about it and here is what we are doing for classes that fill up for LSGP 2014. We will accept entries of up to 45 per class and then start a waiting list after that. While we liked the idea of a last chance qualifier it is just to cumbersome to deal with this year. </span><br style=”font-family: ‘lucida grande’, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: #ffffff;” /><br style=”font-family: ‘lucida grande’, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: #ffffff;” /><span style=”font-family: ‘lucida grande’, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: #ffffff;”>What this means: Stock Honda Light has 41 entries with 4 spots remaining. When the 4 spots are gone you can enter and be placed on a waiting list. If we have a cancellation you move into the top 45. If we don’t have a cancellation and persons on the waiting list are not able to race we will fully refund their money.</span><br style=”font-family: ‘lucida grande’, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: #ffffff;” /><br style=”font-family: ‘lucida grande’, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: #ffffff;” /><span style=”font-family: ‘lucida grande’, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: #ffffff;”>Stock Honda Heavy is filling up as are TaG Sr., and Masters.</span>

Based upon entries actually received and confirmations from racers entries will exceed 220 for LSGP 2014 and are likely to exceed 230.
Stock Honda Light will have 40+ entries.
TaG Sr., Masters and Stock Honda Heavy will have 30+ entries as will the Chonda (Clone) class.
TaG Jr., TaG Cadet and Stock Honda Junior Restricted will all exceed last year’s entry numbers.
We expect approximately 20 entries in the Yamaha pipe class.
The prize package is now at $30,000.

Would be cool to see the entry lists. I hear some heavy hitters are going to be participating.

Jimmy, LSGP 2014 fields look good across the board and are up about 30% over last year. We don’t publish entry lists. We appreciate racers talking about racing with us and we talk about racers who give us specific permission to do so. It is fair to say some heavy hitters are coming. Some have raced with us before and some are making their first appearance.
