The first annual Texas 500 Kart Endurance Race will be held at North Texas Karters in Denton, Texas on October 26 & 27. This is a joint event between The Texas Lone Star Grand Prix and NTK. Chondas (Clones) and Yamaha KT 100s will race for 5oo laps on the technical 1/2 mile track on Saturday and Shifters and TAGS will race on Sunday. The maximum number of team members is 4. The last NTK Chonda Endurance Race hosted 25 teams and early feedback indicates that the Texas 500 will be significantly larger than that.
To keep costs down each team will purchase one set of MG Red tires from LSGP and teams will be required to run the whole event on one set of tires. Logistics are still being worked out but registration will open on 9.1.13 via a link on the LSGP website. The link will go up in the next couple of weeks. Please mark your calendars to join us and follow us here and on Facebook for the latest news.
Classes will be limited to 25 karts each. An entry list has been created. If you would like to reserve a spot early please send us an email at lsgp2012@gmail.com

The Pit Stop Competition at the TX 500: Pit Stop Teams will consist of 2 members. So far the competition will include removing and installing a complete set of tires from a kart. The kart will be on the ground when the competition begins. The team members will put it on a stand and share no more than one impact wrench. This is a timed competition that will probably happen in two stages during the race so that more folks have an opportunity to participate. We are working on prizes. If we all like how the contest goes we will consider a similar contest at LSGP 2014. We welcome your comments and suggestions on The Pit Stop Competition

<p style=”text-align: -webkit-auto;”>If we receive more than 25 entries per class we will start a waiting list based upon order of entry. If the class that is running at the same time yours is does not have 25 entries we will increase the number of entries so that we have up to 50 karts on the track at a time. For instance, if we only receive 20 Yamaha entries we will allow up to 30 4 cycle entries.</p>

Sorry about all the junk in the post above. It was a cut and paste and looked fine until I hit enter.

Because we are getting significant interest from both classes we will run the Chonda (Clone) and Briggs L0206 classes together but score them separately. In stead of a 4 cycle class we will have a Chonda Class and a Briggs L0206 Class. Both race on Saturday.

Racers, We will only score this race electronically. Please make sure that your transponder is working. We will only count laps that are logged electronically. While we would like to be able to have a visual backup it is just not possible in a race like this.

The first annual Texas 500 Kart Endurance Race is now in the books.
Thank you North Texas Karters for a great facility and great staff to work with. Your support of our events makes them possible.
Here are a few quick facts about the race:
1. 0 tire failures in 500 laps for 4 different classes of karts: Shifter, TAG, Yamaha and Chonda
The MG HZ tires had life left in them after the race.
That is a big compliment to MG for a great product and to the drivers for great tire management. The fastest lap of the race was set in lap 492.
2. 0 crashes because of contact. This is a huge compliment to the very talented drivers who drove this race. The drove respectfully and fast. The race lasted nearly 6 hours.
3. 0 red flags
4. 2/3 of the field completed the race
5. Nick Lucido returned to kart racing after a sabbatical for college.
6. Mitch McKie stood on the top spot of the podium for two classes driving 230 laps between the two.
7. Mike Finley came out of retirement yet again for a LSGP event.
8. The Shelby Automotive Technology Team pulled off a podium finish in their first official racing event.
9. Racers raced on both a dry and moist track because of a brief shower late in the race.
Finally, thank you to all of the partners who provided prizes for our racers: MG Tires, Core Karting, RPM Motorsports, VP Racing Fuel, Power Plus Synthetic Lubricants, and others.
