Just heard that Gus Traeder of Quincy, IL and T’N’T KARTWAYS passed away on Monday. He was 90.

Gus was a premier showman and in the ’60s made T’N’T a premier karting facility and events such as the I.K.F. Sprint Grandnationals, which T’N’T hosted multi times, were wonderful events that everyone wanted to attend just because you knew that if the Traeder family was involved, it would be topnotch. One year, all of the dignitaries in town for the Grandnationals were hosted to a riverboat cruise. And every time a big event was held @ T’N’T, the local police were “asked” to ignore any drunken go karters that they might see roaming the streets late @ night. He had a tremendous amount of influence in Quincy.

He will be sorely missed. Our prayers and thoughts to everyone @ T’N’T.

    Keep on kartin'. llb

He was the first race director at the Rock Island Grand Prix, 1993-95, and did an awful lot in the early days for karting. None quite like him!  RIP
