Problem with New Posts since last visit

When selecting the shortcut for “New posts since last visit” and the list is longer than one page, the only page that will display is page one. When selecting the next page, no posts display.

If you are having trouble with that option, there are other options by going to Views in the EKN Forums menu at the very top of the page:

I often get a blank first page too, especially if I come to the main site index instead of jumping right to the “new since last visit” page from my bookmarks.

I used the “New Posts since last visit” today and it seemed to work. It listed the same posts as “New Posts Last Day”. Is it fixed? I was wondering since you state you are looking at it but will you let us know when it’s fixed or are we left to just trying it occasionally and guessing whether it is working or not? Feedback on problems identified would be appreciated.

Hi Ron, the ‘New Posts Since Last Visit’ is part of a plugin, and we have not been able to see any adjustments that we can make. For now, use the ‘New Posts: Lasy Day’ or the other options. If you use the NPSLV, use the right-click to open a post in a new window so you can keep the list while you are using. Thanks.

It still works Ron, you just have to open the thread you want to view in a new window. Is it a pain in the ass right now? Yes. Are we looking to try and fix that? Of course. It goes deeper then just a click of a button, thus there is no easy repair for it. We have to work directly with the developers.

For those that struggle with viewing multiple pages of new posts, there is an easy solution.

 

When you search for new or recent posts since your last visit, it often times shows there are multiple pages, but once you finish with the first one and click page 2, they are all gone.

The work-around that I use is to open all the pages right away in new windows or tabs.  In other  words, if it says there are 75 new posts (at 25 per page),  open page 1, 2, and 3 all in separate windows or tabs, then they will be there until you close the windows.  Otherwise the system reruns the search to bring you page two, and since you’ve been at the site awhile already, it thinks there are no more new posts.

I was aware of the other options and frequently use them also. The one that is most useful to me is the one I identifed. And I also get no posts at times on the first page yet they are obviously there when I look. For instance, I just checked the New Posts since last visit and there were none. I then when into the forum and found the above posts which were all made since my last visit (including yours).

If you can not find a fix for this, why do you continue to even list it as an option? It’s been almost four months since I originally asked about this and it’s still not fixed yet the option is still there.
