      Hi EKN,

A buddy of mine wants to get some practice to get a feel for his kart.  Locally we only have the option of MG or Mojo tires and instead of him wasting Yellows or D2s and trying to figure out the kart while dealing with medium tires and their falloff, would it be worth practicing on MG Reds?  I’ve never used them myself but I’ve heard that being a harder compound they’re more consistent as they wear.  He doesn’t race yet, just wants to get as much seat time as he can.

      He’s on a Birel MX32 with a Leopard (MY09 I believe).

      Thanks!

If he’s just looking to get practice as a newbie, any tire will be good. They are a harder compound, used for many slower club classes. If he’s looking to practice to improve his race pace, then I would use the same compound that they race on.

Thanks David.   He’s just looking to get practice as a newbie and I think having a more consistent tire, even if it is harder, will be of more benefit for the time being.  I’ll let him know.
