KART/MARRS @ Lake Afton September 10/11

M.K.A. (READ family) would like to invite all racers, families and friends to the fall KART/MARRS-RUSSELL KARTING SPECIALTIES event held at LAKE AFTON PARK September 10/11. Event information is now on the KART web site (www.kart.org)

This will be the final event to shake out the bugs before the KART/MARRS-RUSSELL KARTING SPECIALTIES ROAD RACE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS that will be held October 7-9 at Hallett Motorsport in Jennings Oklahoma.

I had mentioned at our April event that we should have a new surface to run on when we came back for this September event but, due to contractor issues, as of 8/24/16 this has not happened. I am in contact with the county officials at this time to get details of when this is to happen. Afton without the new pavement is still a pretty smooth track so there are no worries there if it’s not done within the next few weeks.

Just an FYI!!!

You want to be at this event!!!!!!!

Lindsay has been doing some great work in getting things to raffle off for this event. She has $50.00 Carlos O Kelly’s gift cards, gift baskets, free motel rooms, Spangle gift cards, free entries and working on more!!! I may just have to throw in a “THE MAN” autograph!! LOL !! PLUS, it’s not costing the racer a penny (outside of entering) to have a chance to win any of these items!! You get a ticket when you enter. Be sure to enter before noon on Saturday (hint hint).

Just come and have a FUN FUN time!!!! The READ family is getting fired up as we have missed not racing this year and want to show our appreciation to everyone for supporting our event.

Lake Afton is again in the books, and what an event it was. NEVER have we seen so much rain (thank goodness that was on Friday night). Then on to a glorious weekend of blue skies and racing!

Thanks again to the Read family and all that help them with this event. Know it was even more trying with the rain during the week before while trying to put the hay out, etc. and then Friday night. But because we have the huge pit area, while some people had to adjust from where they might usually pit because of mud, no one that I know of got stuck, and believe me, we have been stuck before. And by practice time, the track was in great shape.

Good turnout and great racing. Made for a warm up to the KART Enduro National Championships @ Hallett Motor Racing Circuit Oct. 7 – 8. That’s a little less than a month from now. Hope to see you all there.

The READ family would like to THANK ALL THE RACERS, FAMILIES & FRIENDS who supported this event!!! Even thou we haven’t been able to race this year due to certain circumstances, it was well worth all the work it took to put this event on with what mother nature dealt us from Wed-Fri. It’s been awhile since THE MAN has had to work that hard to get a track green and ready by Saturday morning!! THANKS to everyone for your patience while we worked to get the track ready to go. Only being 1 hour late starting is amazing to me!!  I owe a big THANKS to my family (Donna, Brad, Lindsay), All our friends (YES, I do have a couple) who were there to help including way early Saturday morning to help sweep the track.

As for the turnout and the racing, AWESOME!!! Turnout was up from the April event. Racing was once again unbelievable!! I lost count on just how many races were decided by the main flagman and Maysha in scoring as there were many finishes that they had to visual decide who went across the line first.

Congrats to all the lucky winners of the items that were given out throughout the weekend.

We look forward in seeing everyone back in 2o17.
