Hi everyone, i used to kart a couple of years ago.  Mainly yamaha 4 hole in a Birel and SQ kart. Then did tag with a Crg Kali/BM Jaguar.  I did a tiny bit of Honda shifter 125/CRG.  Anyways i’m looking to race club level purely recreational as a hobby however i do want to run with the top dogs.  I found what i believe to be a good deal.  Here is the specs-

“Rocket chassis 125cc iame engine spare set of rims and tires, mycron 3 electric start excellent shape ready to race”

All for $1700, from my research rocket is just Biesse rebranded.  How does this kart look?  I’m ok with an older chassis as long as they are competitive.  Bottom doesn’t look too bad no flat spotting and engine is blueprinted by p1 seems, it has a fresh top end rebuild mychron 3 spare tires and rims and a stand included.  Thoughts?  I think $1500 is fair for just the engine

Seller does not know the year or model of the chassis

Imo no, but what you should consider is can you race that engine package at your local track, can you get replacement parts for the engine, can you get replacement parts brakes and such for the chassie?

I run a Rocket chassis with a pre-’09 Leopard at Sonoma.  I don’t race; I just drive around the track, but I bought the kart package from an ex-racer who included his log books and he was running very competitive times with this combination.

My Rocket chassis has a plate welded onto the crossmember behind the seat which has info, including model date, stamped into it.

That looks like a pretty old chassis with allot of HP on it.
