Hi guys need some help went to start my kart today an it started fine shut it off an I couldn’t get it started any more I took the plug out an cleaned it an no go. the gas was coming out of the air box could someone give me some hints what to do. Thanks Larry .
First guess is it’s probably something with the float needle / seat.
Pull carb off, drain fuel out of it, and blow into the fuel inlet. Air should not be blowing through. If it is, you probably either have some debris in there not allowing the needle to seat, or the needle / seat is shot and needs to be replaced. If you cleaned with carb cleaner, you could have (likely) damaged the needle valve.
Could also be the floats.
Are they installed the right way? With carb off and held upside down, shake it – do you hear them rattling?
Are the floats damaged and filling with fuel? Is the float height set?
Finally, venting could be the other source of your problem.
Do I need to choke it when it hot outside for the first start up? iam going to check all the symptom’s like you said but I think I started it an after I shut it off I chock it . maybe that was the problem to do I need to put this on the stand to start it also sorry about all the questions but it is new to me .Thanks.
Use the choke for the first start of the day. I’ve drained the float bowl several times a day after the first start in the morning to change jets. Never have had to use the choke a second time in the day. Go over the things Rob mentioned. Check the electricals as there is a chance you’re not getting spark. Has anything been done to the motor since it last ran?

Inside the carb. on a rotax max on the side where the chock is if you take the screw out an look there is a small hole an the plunger if the plunger is down it covers the hole so does that mean the chock is on? Thanks.
Larry, first lets get our terms straight. The Rotax carb does not have a choke as you have seen on a carbureted car engine. This carb has a separate cold start fuel circuit. When the lever is horizontal, the circuit is disabled. When the lever is vertical, it’s enabled. If you’re getting extra fuel when the lever is horizontal, there is a problem with the card.
Tom Barth’s Green Flag Racing has closed its doors, but Tom has been kind enough to leave his web site up. It has reference material on the Dellorto carb that can be downloaded. The carbs in the articles are not exactly the same as the Rotax carb but they function in the same manor. http://greenflag.net/

Just to let you know it was something minor the black hose on the carb. the small one that runs side to side was ripped so I replaced it not knowing that is was suppose to be to vet the carb. no problems now Thanks for everybody’s help Larry.
Larry, just an FYI – that hose is supposed to have a hole in it – to allow it to vent.
If you replaced it with a hose without a hole, you won’t allow it to vent properly.
Rob That’s what I did its fine now . I taught it was broke an I fixed it with a new piece of hose an didn’t know it was suppose to have a hole in it. what a dumb – – – . Larry
You’re not the first, nor will you be the last one to do that!
Larry,
Congratulations. Like Rob said, you’re not the first and you won’t be the last. We all been our worst enemies at times. :)
