Attention Racers,
It is with a great deal of excitement that we at the Dart Kart Club announce the details for the upcoming Aug. 14-16th National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park event. With karters soon blasting around the 2.0 mile West Circuit for the first time, we have elected to make this historical event even more significant with the addition of a half day practice session on August 14th. Please visit http://www.dartkartclub.com for the pre-entry form, updated schedules, rules and more. Make sure to also read the FAQ section regarding this new facility so you can arrive at the track well prepared. If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to use the Contact Us page of the website to stay informed.
We sincerely appreciate the support from the enduro karting community we have received over the first two races of the 2015 season. To honor our commitment to the racers, if you have entered either of our prior events this year, you will be guaranteed one of the one hundred spots Friday practice will be limited to. Those that arrive in advance of practice on Friday morning will get a chance to walk the track and study every corner of this new facility. In addition, this event will again include our policy that if a driver enters in four or more classes, they will receive Friday practice at no charge.
It is time again to visit with your racing friends and family for the 3rd of 4 Rounds in the AKRA Road Racing Series presented by Vega Tire. Come be a part of the future of karting!
Sincerely,
Andy Leighninger

Will we be doing the chicane on the front straight or not?

I will be able to answer that question more definitively after this upcoming weekend. We have scheduled to make some more announcements in regards to this event and facilities at that time.

I know you said you would be making more announcements soon, but I was wondering if there will be on-site camping (tent) and shower facilities. Just need to know soon or start looking for a hotel.
Thanks

To answer the question about the chicane on the front straight, we will not be using it for our event. Tent camping in the paddock is allowed at a cost of $35 and there are showers available at the track. I also wanted to let those know who are renting a garage that the track will not allow extension cords to be run from their garage to their trailer as it would impede the fire lane. Please plan accordingly.
Most importantly, we will be releasing a track paddock map shortly to give all the crews and drivers a better sense of the track facilities layout.
There are only a few days left for pre registration, make sure you don’t miss out on the reduced rates and your chance to run this new facility.

Once again a great event put on by DKC. Being a new track there we some teething issues but DKC, AKRA and all the competitors worked together to make a fun event. The track was very technical and very fun to drive. We got lots and lots of practice and we burned through all our gas proving that. Thanks to all the people who make a great event like this possible.
Things at NCM that were a little rough (because it was new track) that will hopefully be improved in the future are:
-Paddock Layout. NCM had us paddocked at either end very far away from bathrooms and pit lane entrance because an autocross event was being held on Sunday were we should have paddocked behind garages. Hopefully we can get normal paddock next time and autocross could be held closer to the east track.
-PA system. Currently there is no PA system but as track continues to get built up these will get installed.
-Spectator Viewing. There is not currently good spectator viewing and the 4′-5′ pit wall and 3 layer tall armco makes viewing the karts difficult. But new scoring tower with observation deck could fix these issues.
-Pit Lane Entrance and Exit to Track. Not sure if these can be fixed easily but DKC did a great job of working around track design issues and making it as easy as possible to get on and off track.
Number were not great and its disappointing to see such a great event not better attended. Hopefully racers start coming back out soon or great events like this won’t even be able to happen. I’ll try and post video soon so people can see what a fun track it was and get out there again.

Jeremy,
Thank you for recognizing all the effort put forth by a great group of volunteers that make our events so enjoyable. With both the DKC Board as well many of our Dart Kart Club Members and families offering their services, the National Corvette Museum race was well received by those in attendance. Even with the shortcomings you mentioned of a facility that is still in development, with cooperation from racers like yourself, these events will continue to have a fantastic atmosphere for everyone involved.

Members and Road Racers,
All of us at the Dart Kart Club would like to thank everyone that came out to enjoy a gratifying weekend at the new National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park facility. The 2-mile West Course was a very technical layout that received a lot of compliments from the racers for its challenging corners and smooth asphalt. I would like to extend a special thank you to those that have volunteered this season, as well as to all our Sponsors that helped make the DKC-hosted events possible. The AKRA Road Racing Series presented by Vega Tire point standings have been updated to include the first three rounds and are available on the DKC website. The MyLaps results have also been uploaded and can be viewed here: http://www.mylaps.com/en/events/1189585
Please feel free to drop us a note through the Contact Page on our website and let us know how we can continue to best serve our members and the enduro karting community as we move to the future.
Lastly, please do not forget to make plans to finish out the final round of the AKRA Road Racing Series presented by Vega Tire at the Michigan International Speedway on September 19-20.
Hope to see you all on track soon!
Sincerely,
Andy Leighninger
