I’m mounting a Suzuki RM80 with #428 chain on an American chassis with a 1.25″ rear axle.

I’ve found a source for #40 gears and hubs in 1.25″….so, my question is whether I can run this sprocket without destroying something in the process?

Advice appreciated…  I’d like to stick with #428 instead of #520… I’m not opposed to switching to #40 chain on a #40 rear sprocket and #428 front…if that will work.

      TIA,

      ~Ted

Number 40 and 428 chain are NOT the same, I believe the roller is larger on the 428….

Solved the issue by buying a Hegar sprag with 4 gears. :)

With a sprag on it, you can spin the rear wheels till your hearts content and it won’t spin the motor.  If you plan on starting it off the rear wheels, then they made a version that locked up the hub by pushing a button.  Once started it’s spring loaded and pops out, back to a one way sprag….
