Michigan Kart Club has revised our schedule in response to input from our racers. We reduced our event length to two days, Sept. 6 – 7, 2014, as dates for our 3rd Annual Fall Classic Road Race. To compensate for the lack of a Friday practice day, we will host a 4 hour practice on Saturday prior to commencing with the normal race schedule. The Sunday practice and race schedule has been condensed to allow folks to practice, race and hit the road early.
Overall, this represents one of the best values in Road Racing. Best bang for the buck and great time management.
Friday will still allow for early sign-in, trailer drop, and overnight camping. Gates and registration will be open from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
The event is moved up a week closer to the beginning of September, fits nicely into the National schedule of Road Race events, and is not in conflict with any other road races in the Mid-West. WKA and local option classes will be offered. This will also be a 2014 Vintage Kart Assn. race series stop.
New asphalt was installed at M.I.S. two years ago, creating a smooth 2 mile oval and infield road course combination. In keeping with the professional maintenance strategy for the facility, they have done seamless repairs to an asphalt skid pad section near the infield entrance as well as adding kart friendly concrete rumble strip apexes to the infield turns. These rumble strips will represent added safety for those who like to drive the shortest path through the infield and are tempted to drop a wheel off track in the turns. The asphalt repairs are literally seamless as the defective section was saw cut and new material correctly blended and rolled with a very large roller. Again, a very professional job. No lumps, no bumps.
Online Pre-Entry process will begin April 1, 2014 with payments by Check, credit card or PayPal accepted. Check out our periodic postings at http://www.michkartclub.com for details later this month for specific race class offerings and other weekend details.
