As for welding, he was one of the tops!!! He welded things no one else wanted to even attempt.
He was one of those who would experiment and try anything. I remember just a couple of years ago he brought a 4 engine (controls), 2 on each side on a laydown kart to Afton to test for his trip to the salt flats he had plans for. Only issue was that he found out before making the trip that it was not what the salt flats deemed as a legal entry to try and set a land speed record.
