KA100 Junior

Introduced to the SKUSA SuperNationals in 2018, the KA100 Junior division has set a new record for the event. Single-speed Junior racing began at the SuperNationals with JICA in 2005, won by Connor De Phillippi who is tied for the most wins at the event with four. Junior racing took off in 2008 when TaG Junior began. Since then, only twice did the class reach or surpass the 80-driver mark. For 2023, KA100 Junior will welcome a record setting 85 drivers competing for a chance to become the next SuperSunday winner in the history books.
Already in that list is last year’s winner Steven Miller in a wild SuperSunday main event. Miller crossed the line second but ruled the victor following penalties, thus unable to enjoy the podium ceremony at the top step. The Florida driver comes in as the SKUSA Pro Tour champion thanks to two victories at the WinterNationals and finishing third in USPKS championship standings. He spent most of the season with Chad Dokken Racing / Kart Republic before the recent move to Nash Motorsportz / EOS. Miller comes in with momentum, finishing on the podium at the ROK Cup Superfinal and winning at ROK Vegas.

The only other podium finisher returning from last year is Brazilian Augustus Toniolo (Rolison Performance Group / Kosmic). He finished fifth in his SuperNationals debut. Toniolo is a former SKUSA Winter Series race winner in Cadet competition, and has been racing in Europe all season, returning to the USA to secure victory at ROK Vegas in the ROK Junior division. Other top-10 finishers from a year ago include SummerNationals race winner Diego Ardiles (Rolison Performance Group / Kosmic), 2021 SuperNationals Mini Swift winner Enzo Vidmontiene (MottazSport / Kart Republic), and Christian Cameron (Keyes Racing / Tony Kart).
In total, five drivers won over the 2023 SKUSA Pro Tour in the KA100 Junior division, all competing at this year’s SuperNationals. Truly Adams (Troy Adams Coaching / Factory Kart) and Isaac Malcuit (MMR / Kart Republic) each earned their first SKUSA Pro Tour victory in the class, and each will make their SuperNationals debut in the class. Keagan Kaminski (Formula Works / GFC), Alex Mercado (Speed Concepts Racing / Redspeed), Victor De Alencar (Nash Motorsportz / EOS), USPKS race winner Oliver Wheldon (JC Karting / Kosmic), Turner Brown (Speed Concepts Racing / Redspeed) and Shea Aldrich (Ryan Perry Motorsport / Tony Kart) finished out the 2023 season in the top-10 of the SKUSA Pro Tour standings – all in this year’s field.

The depth of the largest KA100 Junior field in SuperNationals history is deep, including a number of stars from the USPKS program in 2023. Diego Guiot (Supertune USA / Tony Kart) finished second in the series championship, ahead of Miller. Austin Olds (MPG Motorsports / Kart Republic) finished fourth, making his final career start in Junior competition. Payton Westcott (Nash Motorsportz / EOS) is among the many female drivers in the field. Westcott ended up sixth in the USPKS standings.
Among the other contenders to watch include Landon Skinner (PSL Karting / Birel ART), Jackson Wolny (Rolison Performance Group / Kosmic), Tillotson T4 Nations Cup race winner Chase Buscaglia (GWR / Gillard), and Challenge of the Americas champion Nixx Eggleston (Ruthless Karting / Exprit).
A total of 26 drivers in the field are from outside the United States. A solid contingent of Canadians are in the field including Jensen Burnett (Chad Dokken Racing / Kart Republic), Ty Fisher (Racelab / TB Kart) and Nathan Dupuis (Speed Concepts Racing / Redspeed). Both Burnett and Fisher are making their first starts in the class, along with Max Weiland (Magik Kart USA), Johnie Stamps (Team Kart Nick / CRG), and Jackson Gibson (Ruthless Karting / OTK). Gibson is one of three former SuperNationals winners in the field. The 2022 Micro Swift victor is making the big jump to KA100 Junior for the first time after running Mini Swift all season long.
