CKNA Winter Nationals Set for NOLA in December
Annual event to also kick off 2024 CKNA South schedule
The four-cycle karting community in North America is still feeling the immense positivity following the hugely successful seventh running of the Cup Karts North America Grand Nationals in early October, which saw a total of 485 entries hit the track over the nine categories, and this bodes well for continued growth in CKNA’s national and regional programs. While the focus has now turned to 2024, CKNA’s national events are not quite done for the year as the organization recently announced the move of their Winter Nationals to early December, taking over the impressive NOLA Motorsports Park karting facility on December 8-10. For drivers looking for one more major event before the snow hits in the northern states, the WinterNationals promises to be a big show. The race is also the opening round of the CKNA South division, which will run four events from December through to late May in three states.
“I am very excited about heading to NOLA Motorsports Park for the 2024 season’s Winter Nationals event,” offered CKNA South’s Bret Spaude. “Being able to utilize the full venue this year will add a very technical section to the track. Drivers want to race on tracks that challenge them and the set-up of their karts, and NOLA provides that challenge. The facility is a bit of a size upgrade to the previous host track at the 103rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville. We have been in the position the past two events there where the attendance size was at around 95% capacity of the pit area. Jacksonville has been great and we appreciate the local club and look forward to returning to them later in the season, but the pit area increase at NOLA is welcomed. This is also the kick off to the CKNA South Division, which heads to three other popular facilities; Jacksonville, Kershaw and Bushnell.”
All of the standard CKNA classes will be on the schedule for the Winter Nationals, including Kid Karts, Cadet, Sportsman, Junior, Senior Light, Senior Medium, Senior Heavy, Masters and Legends. The weekend schedule will see parking and registration on Thursday, December 7. Friday will be the official practice day from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, and drivers will get down to business on Saturday with one round of practice, qualifying and heats. Sunday, December 10 will feature the finals and the Winter Nationals champion will be crowned for all the classes.

NOLA Motorsports Park – site of the CKNA Winter Nationals this December
The CKNA South program is lining up for its best season since launching in 2021, with three additional races riding off the success of the Winter Nationals. After the NOLA event, the series will head to the iconic 103rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Florida on the February 2-4 weekend. From there, Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC is on deck for an April 12-14 date, and then the series finale will come back to Florida and Bushnell Motorsports Park on May 24-26. Just as series like the SKUSA Winter Series and ROK Cup Florida Winter Tour have drawn racers from the northern states and Canada for years, it can be expected that Briggs drivers from these regions will be looking series at enjoying the warming weather of the races in Florida and South Carolina.
Registration is set to open soon for the CKNA Winter Nationals and will be done through Race Select. Look for the announcement here on EKN.
