Melbourne Kart Centre Under New Management
James and Sam Sera have spent the past seven years as the operators of Melbourne Kart centre, growing it to be one of Australia’s leading industry retailers. Its offerings cover all things kart related, with a large range of spare parts, new and used karts, kart builds, preparation and servicing all available.
From October 1st, they will be handing over the keys to new owners, Pete Phillips and Nick Flodstrom.
“We have loved being such an integral part of the karting community, but all good things come to an end and we are looking forward to embarking on the next phase of our lives. We won’t be leaving the scene too far behind though, as I plan to get out there and add a few more trophies to the cabinet!” – James Sera
Pete and Nick are thrilled to be able to take on MKC and bring it into the next phase of its 15 year history, with many exciting things planned for the future of the business. 2024 will welcome some big changes with a kart storage and delivery service, driver development area, membership program and a new look race team being just a few of the revolutions being made to the business.
“Having pioneered and honed what an educational karting course looks like, we are excited to further cement our program into competitive karting. We are passionate about creating a space where drivers young and old can hone their skills. A dedicated space designed by karters, for karters” – Nick Flodstrom.
The race team will continue to grow under the guidance of the new owners, with plans in the works that aim to give the drivers the best possible shot at kick starting their careers in motorsport. Pete’s background in business development means there is no shortage of ideas for a bright and dynamic future for the stars of the MKC family.
“We are proud to be able to continue the great work James and the team have done over the years, competing at the highest level of Australian karting, such as AKC. We are already looking towards 2024 and beyond as we create a unique approach to how race teams operate and create opportunities to develop our drivers on their individual journeys” – Pete Phillips.
James and Sam will continue on at the shop for a short while, to assist in a smooth handover to the eager new owners. They will also finish up their final racing season, supporting the team at the final round of the Victorian Country Series and Golden Power, with MKC drivers leading the championships in multiple classes.
“We want to thank all customers and team members who have supported us and shown us friendship and loyalty for the years we have run MKC. ” – Sam Sera
MKC will continue to operate with James and Sam until Saturday 30th of September and open with Pete and Nick from Monday 2nd October onwards.
