From track-to-track and series-to-series, Nathan Dupuis is racking up on-track miles this season. After an event in Indiana just a week ago, Dupuis rejoined his Speed Concepts Racing (SCR) team in Utah at the Utah Motorsports Campus for the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) SpringNationals. Taking on the potent X30 Junior category, Dupuis earned his first career SKUSA podium and closed the weekend with two top-ten finishes.

After a disappointing qualifying session on Saturday morning, Dupuis had his work cut out for him in the prefinal as he set a goal to move forward. Starting the wheel-to-wheel racing outside the top-ten, the SCR driver was the biggest mover of the prefinal, gaining the most positions of all, as he crossed the line eighth. Aiming to do the same in the main event, Dupuis was a man on a mission and was able to celebrate his drive and determination with a third-place finish.

“I was running fifth with a few laps to go and there was a battle in front of me,” explained Dupuis. “I knew I needed to keep my momentum up and avoid any carnage if there was any and I could be on the podium. In the end, I did just that, and can’t thank everyone enough for the help and support to get here.”

As one of the youngest Junior drivers in action, Dupuis raced against drivers a few years older than him, years more experience, and mentally tougher, but the young Canadian held his own.

Returning to the track Sunday and looking for some of the same, it was another disappointing qualifying result and when the final checkered flag flew Sunday, Dupuis had earned himself another top-ten finish.

Dupuis added, “While the result is great, there are areas I need to improve, and for sure one of them is qualifying. I need to make sure I maximize the tire grip to get the best lap possible and move further up the grid. It is one key area that I am going to work hard on.”

Returning to Canada with some hardware, the celebration will be short-lived for Nathan Dupuis as he readies for his next event in less than two weeks.
