Memorial Day weekend is like no other for motorsports. From the streets of Monaco, to the high banks in Charlotte, motorsports junkies can enjoy racing all day long. Sunday afternoon, all eyes will be focused on the ‘Greatest Spectacle in Racing’ and Speedway, Indiana with the 107th running of the Indianapolis 500.

The field of 33 drivers provides a wide range of background, experience and success, both nationally and internationally. One thing that is common among those set to strap in to battle for 200 laps around the ‘Brickyard’ is karting. At one point, all 33 have sat in a kart – be it for training, for fun, or to help develop their skills and racecraft in hopes of one day competing at the Indy 500.

For the American drivers, we in the karting community have seen many develop at the kart tracks across the USA – including Santino Ferrucci, Josef Newgarden, Conor Daly, Kyle Kirkwood, Alexander Rossi, Colton Herta, David Malukas, Ryan Hunter-Reay, RC Enerson, Sting Ray Robb and Graham Rahal.

EKN has put together our own unique presentation of this year’s Indy 500 grid, highlighting each driver with a photo of their karting experiences, old and new.
