2021 Cup Karts North America North Division Schedule Completed
At the end of October, the Cup Karts North America announced half of the schedule for the 2021 season for the Champions Cup program. Over the weekend, CKNA completed the events for what is now the North Division thanks to the creation of the new South Division that will make its debut next season. The 2021 CKNA North Division is set for four race weekends, visiting former tracks that were not on the schedule in 2020.
The 2021 CKNA North Division begins on the opening weekend of the month of May with a trip to the Concept Haulers Motor Speedway. This event was one of two introduced in the first half announcement. The April 30-May 2 in Sheridan, Illinois opens up the 2021 season.
“CKNA has made multiple visits to CHMS over the years, and we we’re slated to return again last year before the Corona Virus forced us to change the plans. As this track has been a fan favorite and produced excellent racing at every one of our races there, we knew we had to go back!”
The second event of the 2021 schedule takes competitors to the Whiteland Raceway Park. This facility was on the 2020 calendar until the COVID-19 pandemic scrambled up the schedule. The Whiteland, Indiana facility will host its first CKNA event on May 21-23.
“Another track we unfortunately had to miss in 2020, Whiteland Raceway Park’s resurgence in karting makes it a no brainer for us again in 2021. Sarah and Andy have done so much to bring this historic track back to the forefront of karting in the Midwest, we look forward to stuffing the pits with the CKNA family. This tight technical track featuring a high banked turn is all about 4-cycle racing. The entire facility has been revamped in the last 18 months, and more is planned in the spring before we arrive.”
Beginning the second half of the 2021 season for the CKNA North Division is the USAir Motorsports Park. The circuit in Shawano, Wisconsin is among the most challenging circuits in North America. The program will visit on July 16-18.
“That’s right boys and girls… 2021 marks our triumphant return to karting’s best kept secret, USAir Motorsports Park in Shawano, WI. No karting event has been held at USAir since our last visit in 2017, and that’s a shame. It is by far the most entertaining track we have ever raced on! Featuring multiple elevation changes, technical sections and high-speed straightaways; Shawano is the most complete track we have ever seen. The number of passing opportunities each lap is second to none! This could be a once in a decade opportunity to drive what is arguably one of the best tracks in North America. We are extremely fortunate to be the only karting series invited back to this motorsports oasis. You don’t want to miss it.”
The series finale is set for the East Lansing Kart Track on August 13-15. ELKT was one of the regular stop for all national and regional 4-cycle programs in the past. CKNA returns to the East Lansing, Michigan facility for a second time, visiting back in 2018.
“Another track that Corona Virus took away from us in 2020 this facility is one of 4-cycles most historic tracks, making it the perfect place to hold our brand of all 4-cycle racing. To those of you that haven’t been there before, you;ll be amazed by how beautiful the scenery surrounding the track is!”
To sum up the 2021 schedule for the CKNA North Division, the program is competing in four different states, with each facility different from last year. Adding in the CKNA South Division, CKNA Spring Nationals at Charlotte Motor Speedway in March and the CKNA Grand Nationals 5 in October, a total of 10 events will be hosted by the Cup Karts North America in 2021.
“Our 4 race schedule for the 2021 Cup Karts North Division is complete. We’re hitting 4 different states, each different from last season. We know there are some tracks that many would have liked to see on our calendar this season, but we can’t hit them all. Don’t worry, we’ll shuffle the deck again in 2022! We feel that staying with 4 races again in 2021 is the right choice for our racers. It will help people still getting back on there feet throughout the Corona Virus pandemic, as well as allow those who want to race other events the flexability in their schedules to do so without jepordizing their change at a CKNA Divisional title!”
