2019 EKN Constructors Championship: May 17

Tony Kart begins new season still at the top in North America

The 2019 EKN Constructors Championship is underway, with a number of events completed during the first four months of the year. This year’s edition of the EKN CC – focused on major national and regional events from coast-to-coast –  welcomes 56 rounds of racing including 10 series/programs. Nearly half of the rounds for 2019 have been completed with 37 different brands recording points up to this point, with eight-time EKN CC winner Tony Kart recording the highest total to date.

Of the 16 events thus far in the EKN Constructors Championship, Tony Kart scored the highest total in 11 of them. Tony Kart swept the SKUSA Winter Series, Florida Winter Tour and Challenge of the Americas programs. Through the WinterNationals and SpringNationals, Tony Kart also recorded the highest totals for those two events, including the highest of 2019 with 132 in Utah.

OTK has a strangle-hold on the top two positions with Kosmic sitting second. Kosmic has one #1 in the 16 events (California PKC Round 1), placing in the top three in 10 events. Kosmic has scored points in all but one event on 2019. While Tony Kart has nearly doubled Kosmic’s total, Kosmic has nearly doubled the total of third place chassis CRG. The famed Italian brand matched the score set by Tony Kart at Challenge of the Americas finale for it’s highest finish, with the largest total coming from the WinterNationals (4th).

A long list of brands will be battling for the third position against CRG. Kart Republic is the top challenger, sitting in fourth. The new brand scored the highest points at the opening event of 2019 (Daytona KartWeek), and landed top-three in three other events. Exprit gives OTK three brands inside the top-five, recording the highest total at the lone Texas ProKart Challenge event of the year.

Birel ART begins the second half of the top-10, recording points in 12 of the 16 events in 2019. FA Kart is the fourth OTK brand inside the top-10, sitting seventh. It’s highest total came at the SKUSA WinterNationals. Nitro Kart is eighth, recording points at only four events. The Nick Tucker USA brand set the highest total at the second event for the WKA Manufacturers Cup Series.

Croc Promotion is making a big push in 2019, entering the top-10 after a solid start to the season. While they have not recorded the highest total from an event, the brand is ninth in the standings. CompKart rounds out the top-10, still vying for the first major victory of the season.

The SKUSA Pro Tour will earn points with the following structure; 1st=10 points, 2nd=8 points, 3rd=6 points, 4th=4 points, 5th=2 points. The remaining events will continue to be awarded with the previous ranking system; with first place earning five (5) points down to fifth place earning one (1) point for each category. There is a minimum of 10 starting entries required for the class points to be counted toward the season total in the EKN CC standings.
