Winter Karting Season Concludes This Weekend for Speed Concepts Racing
With the winter karting season coming to a close and the start of the spring and summer season just around the corner, Speed Concepts Racing (SCR) will be gunning for more race wins this weekend. Taking on the final round of the ROK Cup USA Florida Winter Tour, the Orlando based Tony Kart program will take on the short, but challenging, Ocala Gran Prix facility over the March 20-22 weekend.
“We have had some changes within the Speed Concepts Racing program,” explained Mike Speed. “While many teams have drivers come and go, we are promoting within as several of our Mini ROK drivers will advance to Junior ROK. With seven drivers under the tent, six of them will compete aboard full size Tony Kart chassis in the junior class.”
Luca Mars will lead the Speed Concepts Racing team of junior drivers as he enters the final event weekend of the series as the ROK Junior championship point leader. Scoring the round one and two main event victories, Mars will attempt to go three for three and stand atop the championship podium this coming weekend. With additional points available for all drivers, the championship points battle is still wide open and a good weekend is needed to secure the title.
Joining Mars will be recent podium winner Kyffin Simpson and 2019 race winners Luke Lange and Justin Arseneau. With all four SCR drivers showing speed and success so far in 2019, any one of them can take the win this weekend.
Speed continued, “Luca, Kyffin, Luke and Justin have all been on the podium in 2019 and continue to impress week in week out. Noah Baker and Paul Bocuse will join them in the junior ranks this weekend, and if their speed in testing is any indication on how they will perform, we could have six team drivers battling for the win on Sunday.”
With Baker and Bocuse moving to junior in recent events, both drivers showed great speed and battled at the pointy end of the field. Looking to close the Florida Winter Tour strong and carry momentum into the heart of the racing season, both drivers will be aiming to gain experience and knowledge of the junior chassis, all while aiming for the top step of the podium.
Canadian Ayden Ingratta will be back with the Speed Concepts Racing program in Ocala. Progressing up the running order, decreasing lap times and consistently getting better with each passing event weekend, Ingratta’s improvement from the first weekend with the team until now has been substantial.
“Ayden is the perfect example of our driver development program,” added Alex Speed. “Joining our program, the data, video and coaching was a new side of racing for Ayden. He has been able to learn and provide better feedback as well as understand what is needed to be a top-ten driver.”
With unofficial practice taking place on Thursday, qualifying and wheel-to-wheel competition commences on Friday afternoon and through Saturday. Sunday will provide prefinals and main events with champions being crowned at the conclusion of Sunday’s on track action.
Speed Concepts Racing will continue to sell their team chassis after each and every event weekend. With multiple 2019 chassis available for purchase, interested parties are asked to contact Speed Concepts Racing for more information.
