Supertune Aims for Top of Podium in Final Florida Winter Tour Event of 2019
Six drivers ready to do battle at Ocala Gran Prix
With the goal to close the ROK Cup Promotions Florida Winter Tour on a high note, Supertune has confirmed six Tony Kart entries across three separate classes for the final round of the 2019 campaign this weekend. With three drivers in championship contention, including two in Mini ROK and one in Micro ROK, Supertune will look to tame the fast and short Ocala Gran Prix facility over the March 21-24 weekend.
Leading the way in the Mini ROK division is championship point leader Kai Sorenson. Already a multi-time race winner and a champion in 2019, Sorenson will look to double up this weekend in Ocala. Claiming a pair of victories this past weekend in a tune-up event at the OGP facility, Sorenson is riding a wave of momentum into the final round of the popular winter karting program. Joining Kai in the Mini ROK class will be Anderson Leonard and team newcomer Jorge Ortiz, both whom finished on the podium in a Supertune 1-2-3 sweep this past weekend.
“I like the way that our Mini and Micro programs have looked in the first two and a half months of the season,” expressed Ben Cruttenden. “We have worked extensively on a test program developed around the new Tony Kart Mini chassis and it has proven successful, and we will look to continue rolling along this weekend.”
In the Micro ROK division, it will be female driver Karsyn Walter’s who has a shot at the overall series title. Currently sitting third in the points chase, Walters has been a model of consistency in 2019, racing her way to the front of the field when it counts. With extra points on the line in Ocala, Karsyn will need to go for the win and see how the cards fall for others. Joining Walters in the youngest class in ROK Cup competition is Marco Romero as he looks to put the speed and knowledge of the Supertune package at the front of the field.
ROK Junior diver Hunter Yeany will make his 2019 Florida Winter Tour debut as he makes the switch to the Tony Kart chassis and Supertune program. Often seen in karting paddocks across the country, including in several events overseas, Yeany will look to take advantage of the immense knowledge of the Supertune program in his quest for Florida Winter Tour results.
With unofficial practice taking place on Thursday, qualifying and wheel-to-wheel competition commences on Friday afternoon and through Saturday. Sunday will provide prefinals and main events with champions being crowned at the conclusion of Sunday’s on-track action.
