Ryan MacDermid returns to Superkarts! USA competition this weekend (Photo: On Track Promotions)

With his focus on the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda season, Canadian driver Ryan MacDermid will rejoin Prime Power Team and the BirelART product line for the 2019 Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Pro Tour. With no conflicts for all three of the Pro Tour events throughout the season, MacDermid will travel to Calspeed Karting in Fontana, California for the opening round of the SKUSA program March 1-3.

“Ironically, Calspeed Karting is a karting facility that is on the grounds of Auto Club Speedway, which was the home of my most recent F4 race,” explained the Alliance Racing Sponsored by Gas Monkey Energy driver. “Rather than compete inside the speedway, this time I will be just outside of it and look to bring Prime Power Team and BirelART to the top of the podium in X30 Senior.”

Dating back to the 2018 karting season, MacDermid finished seventh in the SKUSA Pro Tour X30 Senior championship points battle with a pair of top-five results, including a victory in the final event of the season at New Castle Motorsports Park. Finishing the year strong at the prestigious ROK the RIO and Superkarts! USA SuperNationals, MacDermid claimed a race win and fifth place finish against some of the top drivers in the world.

MacDermid continued, “I love karting and it is always nice to have the opportunity to get back in the seat. Though I would love to be on track in my F4 car everyday, the current budget does not allow for that. I am working hard with potential new partners and hope to have a few announcements in the coming weeks.”

“Ryan is a great driver and we are always happy to have him under the Prime Power Team tent,” added Trevor Wickens. “He is a great ambassador of our team, sport and the BirelART product line and always provides us with not only a chance to win, but some good excitement on track.”

With unofficial practice kicking off on Thursday, February 28th, official practice will take place on Friday. Two separate race days will commence on Saturday morning with warm-up, qualifying, prefinal and main events.
