Dan Wheldon Ambassador Award Presented by Bell Racing USA Set to Be Awarded at SKUSA SuperNationals
Announcement to be made during SuperSunday opening ceremonies

The Dan Wheldon Ambassador Award Presented by Bell Racing USA will be awarded at this year’s Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals. With the event taking place November 14 – 18 at the RIO All Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, this year’s winner will be announced during SuperSunday opening ceremonies.
While the past eligibility required potential winners to compete in a specific karting series, the new criteria simply requires the potential recipient to be a member of the karting industry, in general. Although drivers are the most prominent part of any series, success in karting requires groups of individuals including parents, tuners, mechanics, coaches, team managers, business owners, importers, track owners and event promoters.
“With the karting landscape changing every year, the way the award was set up in the past limited the potential candidates,” explained RTD Media’s Mike Maurini, who was a great friend of the late Dan Wheldon. “The new criteria opens the door to many others within the karting community and not only in North America, but worldwide.”
“Dan was a great friend to the Bell Racing USA family and we are happy to assist in the award in any way possible,” expressed Chris Wheeler, Director of Motorsports for Bell Racing USA. “The passion that he shared to the sport, the way he approached friends, competitors and the kids in karting and his fierce on-track drive will never be forgotten. Dan was a Bell Helmets driver, but more than that, he was a family man, brand ambassador and friend of all of us in karting whether you knew him or not.”
The award recipient will receive a personalized trophy/plaque in addition to a copy of the Michael Voorhees photo book “Dan Wheldon Lion Heart”, created by Michael and Dan for Dan’s parents and fans, as well as a swag bag from Bell Helmets. eKartingNews.com has also stepped up to the plate in a big way and is offering an assortment of EKN clothing.
