So Cal Oval Karters Make Final Perris Auto Speedway 2016 Appearance This Saturday

The So Cal Oval Karters return to Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday afternoon, November 5th, for the final time in 2016.  Unlike two weeks ago when it raced on a road course at the Riverside County racing facility, this Saturday the SCOK will be on a traditional oval cut into The PAS infield.  Joining the karters will be the Barona Speedway Mini Dwarf Cars and Junior Sprints.  There will also be an “Arrive and Drive” for perspective racers to get into a full race kart and try their hand on the oval track.

The grandstands and concession stands will not be open for the kart race so fans are urged to bring chairs and coolers to watch all the action from trackside.  Admission is $10.00 and entrance for all will be through the track’s pit gate.  Gates will open at 9:00 AM and the karts will hit the track for practice at 11:30.

Highlighting Saturday’s show will be the KT100 class where rivals Chris Southern of Hesperia and Joe Gibb of Long Beach will butt heads once again as they come into the race in a virtual tie for the class point lead.  Besides Southern and Gibb sharing the top of the KT100 points heap, Gibb also leads the points in the Open class, Menifee’s Don Holdsworth is the leader in the Senior 4 Cycles and Steve Juillerat of Whitter sits on top of the F200 standings.

For the Mini Dwarfs and Junior Sprints, it will be their first ever appearance at Perris Auto Speedway.

The SCOK will also be offering their popular “Arrive and Drive” program.  Potential new drivers can jump into a race kart built by the So Cal Oval Karters and cut some laps.  The cost is only $25.00 for 10 laps (there is also a $10.00 admission fee to the facility).  The “Arrive and Drive” is designed for kids age 8 and up and for adults as well and allows prospective racers to give karting a try for a few dollars to see if they like it.  If they do, they can then jump in with both feet, get equipment and be ready for the 2017 season opener.  To reserve a space in the arrive and drive or for more information, call Mike Nigh at: (805) 857-2595.

After Saturday’s race, the SCOK will wrap up the 2016 campaign at John Aden’s Wheel2Wheel Raceway on the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in Victorville on November 19th.
