Los Angeles Karting Championship Hosting Pro Show on June 11

Top drivers set to battle for over $12,000 in prize money in Stock Moto and IAME X30 competition

The Los Angeles Karting Championship is offering up a unique and exciting three-hour event for S1/S2 Stock Moto and IAME X30 competitors on June 11, one day prior to the fifth event of the 2016 championship series. The LAKC Pro Show at the CalSpeed Karting Center facility will hand out over $12,000 in prize money in motocross style format, narrowing down each field to the 20 best drivers through qualifying, selected heat races and the always entertaining last chance qualifier for each pro category.

Qualifying for the LAKC Pro Show opens at 5pm and will determine the starting order for each of the two heat races per division. The format for the two heat races is similar to that of the Daytona 500 ‘Duel’ Qualifying Races. All the odd qualifiers (1st, 3rd, 5th, etc.) are placed in Heat #1 and the even qualifiers (2nd, 4th, 6th, etc.) compete in Heat #2. The top-eight finishers from each heat race transfer directly to the main event. The rest of the drivers are combined into a Last Chance Qualifier, with the top-four finishers moving on to the big show to form the 20-driver grid in Stock Moto and X30 Pro.

“The goal is to try and elevate a group of drivers into true professional racers at the top of the TaG and shifterkart categories,” stated LAKC President Willy Musgrave. “This includes their driving, conduct and attitude on and off the track along with overall image to the rest of the karting community. We are working with Superkarts! USA to create a pedestal of drivers for the young kids, the karting community and new people to the sport to look up to and strive to be one day. It also helps us focus on only the amateurs and deliver a racing program that perfectly suits their needs on Sunday.”

The weekend also begins a new division within the TaG Senior category. An X30 Pro and X30 Intermediate classes will be formed. Those competitors unable to qualify for the LAKC Pro Show main event will have the option to race Sunday in the regular LAKC event for FREE in the new X30 Intermediate class.

Registration is available through the Motorsportsreg.com link on the LAKC website. Competitors are asked to follow all the normal steps for registering for the normal LAKC race. X30 Pro and X30 Intermediate competitors will be manually split Saturday afternoon, and thus LAKC is asking racers to register under the TaG Senior category.
