Margay Racing Finishes Strong at GoPro Motorplex
Wins in 206 Senior and Kid Kart highlight the Man Cup Weekend
It was a weekend of highs for the red and black in Mooresville, North Carolina for round two of the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup series, highlighted by victories in the Briggs Senior and Kid Kart classes. The rain on Friday and Saturday didn’t put a damper on our results, as the team leaves NASCAR country with a multitude of podiums and top tens across multiple categories.
In Briggs Senior, Charlottle Lalonde followed up a close second place finish on Saturday with an impressive chess match victory on Sunday. Join Charlotte on the podium for Margay Racing was fellow Canadian competitor James Dunn, who was able to score a pair of third. St. Louis drivers Jon Vernier, Dillon Emerson and Jim Rucker were able to dip their feet into WKA competition gaining valuable experience leading into the rest of the racing season.
Charlotte Lalonde – “The Ignite was an awesome kart to hop in and go. All weekend we never had to make major changes to the kart. It was pretty fast from the get go! I look forward to running the Ignite K3 program this year!”
James Dunn- “The arrive and drive program was excellent and I had an army of awesome tech’s making sure the kart was on point. From the tent set up, mechanical help, driving coaching and awesome food and lunches, I couldn’t be happier with the support I received.”

Spike Kohlbecker navigates his way through the curbing
Spike Kohlbecker was able to score a flurry of top 10s across both Yamaha Junior and IAME Junior. After a big win at Daytona, Spike is well positioned for a run at the points championship in both classes. Teammate Gage Rucker improved all weekend and is developing pace in only his second national outing. Joining Spike on the top ten train was Brad Britten, who scored a pair of top tens in Yamaha Senior.
In Kid Kart, Preveil Perkins followed up a pole position on Saturday with the final event victory on Sunday. Preveil and teammate Ava Dutton, who had some bad luck Sunday, will be in the points hunt heading into the summer.
Congratulations to all of the Margay drivers and crew members on a successful trip to GoPro Motorplex. The team looks ahead to the next WKA event at the New Castle Motorsports Park on July 15-17.
