EKN Constructors Championship – September 3

Advantage increases for Tony Kart as Top Kart remains in front for P2 battle

The 2015 karting season is in the final stages. Championship battles are finishing up in certain areas, while other racing programs are gearing up for the final rounds of the year to crown their class champions. The crown for top chassis in the eKartingNews.com Constructors Championship has already been delivered to Tony Kart, as the brand continues to dominate the standings as we head into the final stretch of the season.

Tony Kart logoTony Kart is the only brand to score in all 37 events that have made up the 2015 EKN CC standings thus far, and is projected to score points in all 43 events. If you take the points accumulated by second through sixth place, you will finally be able to better the Tony Kart score. Tony Kart leads each category except for three (WKA, USPKS, and Texas ProKart Challenge), with over half its total coming from the Winter programs and the US Open/US Rotax Grand Nationals. In fact, Tony Kart scored a season high 144 points at the US Rotax Grand Nationals, better by 112 points over the second best brand, which was FA Kart while Kosmic was third, making it an all OTK podium.

Top Kart remains in the second position, however, the margin is just now 20 points over the rising Merlin brand. Top Kart was best at the two final WKA events to finish the year best in that category. On the flip side, Merlin bested the field at the two final United States Pro Kart Series events to claim the top spot in that category on the year, helping to move itself up to third in the overall standings. Franklin Motorsports has continued its development of the Merlin chassis, showing big numbers in the Cadet and Junior categories with success still in the Senior divisions.

That moved CRG down to fourth, earning points through its shifterkart contingent at the Superkarts! USA Fikse Wheels Pro Tour, with new kid on the block BirelART fifth. The new chassis scored points in seven of the last nine events as the brand continues to grow across North America.

Sixth through 10th remain unchanged. Kosmic holds down the sixth position, with Praga in seventh. Praga North America continues to grow the brand across the country, earning two big wins at the recent USPKS finale weekend. Benik is holding strong in eighth riding off the success of its Cadet program. FA Kart puts all three OTK brands inside the top-10, which is capped off by Sodi Kart who continues to show the way in the Texas PKC category.
