So Cal Oval Karters Road Racing Saturday Afternoon at Perris Auto Speedway

The So Cal Oval Karters will stage one of their most anticipated events of the 2015 campaign when they race on a road race on the infield at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday afternoon, May 30th.  The grandstands will be closed for the event, but those wishing to watch can purchase a pit pass and watch from the infield.  Racing will begin at noon.

Saturday’s contest is the only road race on the 2015 schedule for members of the SCOK and only one of four that will be staged in the daytime.

With three races and 12-main events already in the record books for the 2015 season, the only driver who has scored more than one win is Matt Martis in the SR 4Cycle class.  The Bonita based driver won the first two events of the year and finished second at the last race at John Aden’s Wheel2Wheel Raceway in Victorville on May 16th.  Other winners at the last race were Brody Roa of Garden Grove in the KT100’s, Camarillo’s Cody Nigh in the Open Class and Troy McIntosh of Lake Elsinor in the F200’s.

Saturday will mark the debut of the series “Arrive and Drive” program.  Potential new drivers will cut some laps on the road course in a kart built by the So Cal Oval Karters.  This Saturday’s “Arrive and Drive” is sold out, but potential drivers can make plans now to participate in one of the other ones throughout the year.  The cost is $25.00 for 10 laps (plus the fee to the facility).  The “Arrive and Drive” program is designed for kids age 8 and up and for adults as well.  Drivers have to wear tennis shoes, a long sleeve jacket and jeans.  If they have a helmet, it is recommended they bring that as well, but for those who do not have one, some helmets will be available.  Gloves and racing collars will be supplied by the SCOK.  For more information or to reserve one of the limited spots for the “Arrive and Drive”, please call or E-mail Mike Nigh at (805) 857-2595 or scokart@gmail.com.

The next race on the 2015 schedule after Saturday will be on June 20th and it will also be at Perris Auto Speedway on an oval track built in the infield.   The “Arrive and Drive” program will be available for the June 20th event.

The So Cal Oval Karters would like to thank the following sponsors who help make the series possible.  Burris Racing, Cory Kruseman Sprint Car Driving School, Hubcapmike.com, Perris Auto Speedway, Professional Announcer Chappy, R&J Motorsports, THC Home Medical Services, T-MAC Racing and Yoa Racing Engines.  If you would like to become a part of the So Cal Oval Karters 2015 season, please call or E-mail Mike Nigh at (805) 857-2595 or scokart@gmail.com.
