Looking at the calendar, the 2015 karting season is nearly at the halfway point as the month of May is just about finished. Racing all over North America is taking place with the cold winter months behind us and the warmth of summer just around the corner. The latest edition of the eKartingNews.com Constructors Championship standings is heating up as well, with a solid fight for the runner-up position while four-time top chassis Tony Kart enjoys a healthy lead at the halfway point.

Tony Kart has been the only brand to score in all 22 events, posting the highest total in six of the last seven events added to the EKN CC standings. Tony Kart led the way once again at the California ProKart Challenge event (Round 3), and set the tone at the opening rounds for Texas ProKart Challenge and Can-Am Karting Challenge – along with the national events of United States Pro Kart Series, SKUSA Fikse Wheels Pro Tour SpringNationals, and the US Open in Dallas.

The top two positions remain unchanged as CRG and Top Kart sit second and third. CRG was in the top three at the California PKC and SpringNationals, adding points in two other events. Top Kart is one of two brands to score higher than Tony Kart on the season. The #RollBlue chassis was best for the second time on the season, earning the highest total at the second WKA Manufacturers Cup event.

A change for fourth has put the new BirelART chassis into the fourth position, coming off a successful last few weeks where they just missed the top-three at the SKUSA SpringNationals, landing the second most points in Dallas just two weeks later. Kosmic slipped to fifth, reaching the top-three twice in the last seven events on the EKN CC calendar.

Two others brand moving up the order include Praga and Merlin. Both had successful USPKS and SKUSA SpringNationals events. Praga was second best at the SKUSA Fikse Wheels Pro Tour season opener, while Merlin was second in the USPKS opener, along with the second stop of the WKA series behind the strength of the Franklin Motorsports operation. Coyote falls from sixth to eighth with no points added to their total since the last EKN CC standings, but still is one of two brands to beat Tony Kart on the season. FA Kart has climbed to ninth, making it three OTK brands inside the top-10 by earning points at four of the last seven events. Despite securing points at three of the latest races, Benik has dropped to 10th.

EKN Constructors Championship Guidelines
The EKN Constructors Championship calculation process includes the top-five finishers in each recognized class (Senior-Master-Junior-Cadet classes). The SKUSA SuperNationals and US Rotax Grand Nationals will earn points with the following structure; 1st=20 points, 2nd=16 points, 3rd=12 points, 4th=8 points, 5th=4 points. The SKUSA Pro Tour and US Open will earn points with the following structure; 1st=10 points, 2nd=8 points, 3rd=6 points, 4th=4 points, 5th=2 points. The remaining events will continue to be awarded with the previous ranking system; with first place earning five (5) points down to fifth place earning one (1) point for each category. There is a minimum of 10 starting entries for the class points to be counted toward the season total in the EKN CC standings.
