BBS Race Engine Development – Florida Winter Series Report

A successful winter season would be an understatement for BBS Race Engine Development.  Operating in Middletown, Indiana and led by engine builder Brian Seward a championship was earned along with two victories and 10 top 3 finishes.  Supporting the Florida Winter Tour Rok Cup and the Florida Pro Kart Series gave BBS engines a diverse set of engines to work with utilizing both a Rok and Iame package.

The first round of the WKA Manufacturers Cup Series had multiple pilots equipped with BBS powered Leopards and X30’s.  Olivia Horn and Sam Cate had their fair share of success with their best finishes in Pro Leopard Senior with Cate finishing fourth in the final and Horn fifth in heat 1.  AJ Myers and the BBS Leopard package were a perfect match as Myers was flawless throughout the weekend.  With a pre-final win, the main event witnessed Myers crossing the stripe in second, but his position was removed due to improperly filling out the tech sheet.  Olivier Bellanger represented BBS in Pro Iame Jr.  Unfortunately, an incident in the pre-final while running fourth diminished Bellanger’s hope of victory.  Working hard during the 20 lap main event, Bellanger attacked the field and brought home BBS a solid seventh place finish.  Ryan Norberg, competing in Pro X30 Senior, powered his way to a solid fourth place finish earning himself a spot on the podium.

BBS engines was a key component to AJ Myers success in the Florida Pro Kart Series (FPKS). The young 18 year old was dominate with his X30 and Leopard.  The team’s chemistry and hard work cumulated in a total of two wins, three podiums, and ultimately the Iame Senior championship.  Austin Jordan also showed great speed in his FPKS debut securing his best finish at the 103rd Street Complex with a fourth place finish on Sunday.  Representing BBS in rounds two and three in TaG Sportsman was Max Opalski.  Opalski made progress throughout the entire weekend with his Iame Swift.  The hard work paid off for the Chicago native as he claimed the final podium spot in his class on Sundays 15 lap main event.

BBS engines concluded their busy seven race winter schedule with Florida Winter Tour Rok Cup.  BBS had a strong presence in RoK Masters and Rok Senior.  Francois Brun- Wibaux took home the Vice Champion title in Rok Masters after tallying up three podium finishes.  In RoK Senior, Ryan Norberg and Sasha Brun-Wibaux powered their way to great results.  The duo had one of their best results at Orlando Kart Center.  In Saturday’s action, Brun-Wibaux ran times equivalent to the leaders.  Bad luck struck the female pilot in the opening laps forcing a DNF while running in the sixth spot.  Norberg had his best results on the following day where the young pilot led half of the 18 lap main event.  The young driver came short from victory crossing the line in second just .996 from the leader.  Ocala Gran Prix marked the final round of the FWT RoK Cup schedule.  BBS once again showed its reliability and power in the technical circuit where Ryan Norberg and Sasha Brun-Wibaux had their fair share of success.  Norberg tallied a fourth, second, and third in the heats giving him a second place starting position.  The main event had much excitement where the true battle was for the second spot.  The conclusion of the gruesome 24 lap final had Norberg in fourth and securing third place in the championship standings.  Sasha Brun-Wibaux showed consistency in the heats with her best finish coming from heat two with a sixth.  After a DNF in the pre-final, the young female teenager came charging through the field settling in eighth.

“The hard work paid off,” stated engine builder Brian Seward.  “Between the Rok and Iame packages the performance was there across the board.  I cannot thank my customers enough for their support in my program.   The success this winter season was derived from utilizing the data and driver feedback to power found in the shop.  Look for better results during the rest of the season.”

BBS Race Engine Development will be offering trackside support in the United States Pro Kart Series, SKUSA Pro Tour, Gear Up F-Series and the WKA Manufacturers Cup Series.  For additional information contact Brian:
