WKA Gold Cup Gearing Up for Carolina on October 17-19
We’re less than one month away from the 2014 WKA RLV Tuned Exhaust Products Gold Cup Series season closer this October 17-19 at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, S.C., where the GT Machine Grand Nationals will take center stage in the 4-cycle sprint karting world.
Next month’s Gold Cup Grand Nationals will mark the series’ third visit to CMP’s 0.7-mile sprint course. The track’s first-ever WKA sprint national came when the Gold Cup visited Kershaw on a cold and rainy March weekend in 2010.
After 2010 the series did not return to CMP until last year, when Rockingham Speedway unexpectedly closed and WKA rescheduled the Gold Cup season closer at Kershaw. The event drew rave reviews from Gold Cup racers and families – many who had never before raced at CMP – making it an easy decision for WKA to return to the popular venue this year.
Many series regulars will be focused on national championships heading into the big weekend in South Carolina, while other invading teams will solely be searching for feature wins and the prestigious WKA Grand National Eagle trophy, one of the best awards in karting that’s offered only once a year in each WKA national series.
This year’s edition of the Gold Cup Grand Nationals will boast some outstanding contingency prizes for WKA’s 4-cycle sprint racers.
WKA officials’ goal has been to line up contingency prizes for every top-five finisher in the surging Pro Gas Animal classes’ main events.
With support already from a number of loyal sponsors – including Bridgestone, Grand Products, RLV, Thor Oil, Power Plus Lubricants, Baker Racing Engines, Michigan Kart Supply, R2C Performance Products, Briggs Racing, and more to come – every top-five finisher in the eight Pro Gas Animal classes offered between Saturday and Sunday will receive product or a certificate toward product!
Note that all product or certificates awarded will be useful for the racer. Products already lined up include Bridgestone tires, Van-K rims, R2C air filters, Thor and Power Plus oil, RLV mufflers, Michigan Kart Supply certificates and a Briggs Animal engine.
Details are forthcoming on a contest that will produce one lucky winner of the Briggs Animal engine. Every racer in attendance will have an opportunity to win the engine!
Baker Racing Engines customers have some added “carrots” to go after throughout the Grand Nationals weekend. BRE owner Steve Baker has released the following statement and contingencies for teams running BRE power at CMP.
