Team News: Checkered Motorsports – WKA Manufacturers Cup Series New Castle Preview
Checkered Motorsports will journey to New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana for the fourth round of the WKA Manufacturers Cup Series. Checkered Motorsports will field three drivers, all of whom collected hardware at the third round in North Liberty, Indiana.
John Paul Southern Jr. will look to continue his domination in the series, after winning two events at Michiana Raceway Park in July. Southern Jr. leads the points standings in all three classes that he will be competing in including Cadet Sportsman, Yamaha Sportsman and KPP Sportsman. The Ohio driver looks to capture more wins in pursuit of the WKA Triple Crown, the triple crown is awarded to any driver winning three or more national championships.
Evan Fritts returns to the seat in New Castle. The second year driver has been turning eyes in a breakout season that has seen him collect two podium results in both the Manufacturer’s Cup series and United States Pro Kart Series. Fritts looks to make it three-in-a-row in New Castle, shooting for more podium results in the Yamaha Junior category.
Andrew Bujdoso headlines the Senior division. Bujdoso comes into New Castle hot off his first WKA win at Michiana Raceway Park. The 16-year-old currently is 6th in points and has his eyes set on victory in New Castle, aiming for a national championship and a spot in the skip barber karting shootout.
“With the season coming to an end, the team is leaving nothing on the table,” explained team owner Csaba Bujdoso. “The PCR chassis has shown dominance in all categories, we’re expecting great results for the next upcoming rounds and hope to clinch multiple championships along the way.” Checkered Motorsports will also have a fully equipped race-winning PCR Stock Honda package on display, which will also be piloted around the New Castle circuit following Friday’s action for a few laps by Kyle Smith.
