TAG CADET Mini Rok had Myles Farahan and Jagger Jones leading the practice rounds on Saturday and in Sundays morning warm ups. Qualifying held true to Jagger Jones who would out pace the field by over 4 tenths to claim the pole. Myles had a tire issue which unfortunately put him in the back of the field. Heat one was an excellent race with Jagger taking an early lead and crossing the line for the win. Heat one also showed Myles had the speed to compete. He had a text book heat and drove through the field setting fast time and finished third. The final was an epic battle and exciting finish with Myles taking second and Jagger finishing third.
Myles is still first place in the overall Mini Rok points and Jagger remains a close 2nd
PRD -2 junior. Aprils race had Jake Drew on the pole and finishing 1ST place. This race had Jake qualifying 4th. In the first heat Jake raced dominantly to the front and took the lead for the majotity of the race. A yellow flag stop progress and when it resumed Jake lead until the last lap. The final was not so good for Jake as he showed strength in the beginning but was eventually sidelined with a mechanical issue in the final.
PRD PILOT Cristina Castro has been constituently racing the top positions in this class. This weekend she did really well in the morning warm-up and had an excellent qualifying starting 4th. Cristina had a great race and finished a very strong 4th in the heat, running within 2 tenths of the leader. In the final she battled had again and came away with a 7th place result.
COMER K-80 & K80 Pilot Class. This class is incredibly competitive and LAKC showcases some of the best racing and talent in the country. In similar fashion to previous April event… HRE powered pilots topped the charts taking 3 of the first 7 qualifying positions. Cole Keith Cotham “CK5” qualified 3rd Myles Farahan qualified 5th Dominic Gorden qualified 7th and Geneva Keller qualified 21st. CK5, Dominic, and Geneva are Comer Pilot classified but run with the older Comer drivers. They are scored separately. Heat One was incredibly exciting with Myles racing to the front and leading most of the event. CK5 and Dominic were also dicing it out in the top five. After the heat ended, Myles finished 2nd Dominic finished 7th and CK5 finished 9th after a late race incident. While enroute CK5 actually had fast time of the event! Geneva moved up to place 15th. The Comer Final was another epic race with Myles leading the majority of the event but ended up settling for 2nd after the dust cleared. Dominic finished an overall 4th and ended up taking the first place position the Pilot class. CK5 was unfortunately near the back of the pack with a mechanical issue and Geneva rounded out the Pilot class in 6th position.
CK5 still remains 1st in the overall points and Dominic advances to 5th in a highly competitive Pilot classification. Myles is sitting in 5th overall in the older driver Comer points less then 25 points out of the lead.
At the end of the weekend Marc Zartarian stated “I am so impressed with the caliber of drivers in Southern California and how they all come together at the LAKC events. Each LAKC event is like a National Championship. If you’re not on your game it will show. I am very proud to be associated with the drivers and crew we have on our racing engines. They consistently show total professionalism and are always prepared to win. Each race they get better and better results finishing in the top paying points positions. I couldn’t be happier”.
