Driver News: Kyle Smith – United States Pro Kart Series Round 1 Preview

After almost six months out of the seat, Kyle Smith will be making his return behind the wheel this weekend when he heads to GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina to compete in the first round of the United States Pro Kart Series.

Since his return from Germany in 2013, Kyle has been racing a limited schedule due to starting his freshman year at PennState. “It feels great to have the opportunity to race full time again, it’s a difficult balance between studies and racing, but as always I’m up for the challenge” stated Smith. Smith added “I can’t thank Checkered Motorsports and Franklin Motorsports enough for making this year possible, without them I’d be watching from home.”

Kyle Smith will compete in Leopard 125 Pro, aboard his familiar yellow and gold Checkered Motorsports PCR Mxk8 powered by a Franklin Motorsports prepared Parilla Leopard.

Last time Kyle competed in the United States Pro Kart Series, he walked away with a podium.

In closing, Smith stated “I’m really stoked to get back racing against such stout competition, it’s been a while, but with a few practice sessions under my belt, I think we’ll be up front in no time. I got the opportunity to see GoPro Motorplex for the first time last week and get a few laps in. Our times were very competitive by the end of the day and because of that I’m entering the event confident as ever. Again, I can’t stress how happy I am to be back, and look forward to a great weekend with the Checkered Motorsports crew!”

Kyle would like to thank the following people. Everyone at Checkered Motorsports, Franklin Motorsports, GO Designs, Jeff Smith, and his family for their support.
