Northern Ontario Karting Championship Reorganized as Canadian Karting Challenge

Series to offer wide array of 2-cycle and 4-cycle classes

Canadian Karting Challenge logoAfter several years running a successful series as the Northern Ontario Karting Championship (NOKC), series officials have reorganized as the Canadian Karting Challenge. Concentrating on TaG and CIK classes for 2014, the series will no longer be a Rotax qualifier and will instead offer a wide array of 2-cycle and 4-cycle classes. Continuing to focus on the racers, the Canadian Karting Challenge will offer great competition, a fun and friendly atmosphere and a host of amazing prizes.

Always supporting the shifter racing categories, the Canadian Karting Challenge will offer Senior 125cc as the headline class in 2014. The class champion will be awarded a sponsored three-day racing school at Skip Barber. Looking to rebuild the excitement in the shifter categories, the series is expecting high numbers in this headline class.

Other 2-cycle classes to be offered include Junior 125cc Shifter, Senior TaG/Rotax, Junior TaG/Rotax, TaG 60cc Cadet and TaG 80cc Master. TaG classes will follow current Florida Winter Tour/CIK rules. 4-cycle classes include Junior Honda Lite, Junior Honda and Briggs, Senior Honda and Briggs, and Master Honda and Briggs.

All Senior 2-cycle and 4-cycle competitors will be vying for a series sponsored funded ride to the SKUSA SuperNationals, which will be awarded to one driver. One driver in the Junior 2-cycle and 4-cycle categories will also win a series sponsored ride to the SuperNationals, which take place each November in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The series schedule is already set for 2014, and will kick off May 31-June 1 for Round #1 at Innisfil Indy. Round #2 will return to Innisfil Indy June 21-June 22 with the always-exciting Shannonville Motorsport Park playing host for Round #3 July 11-13. Round #4 is to be announced, but a street race in Hamilton is in the works. The final two rounds will take place back at Innisfil Indy, with Round #5 August 9-10 and Round #6 September 20-21.
