This year, the 18th annual Skip Barber Racing School Karts to Cars Scholarship Shootout will travel to Sebring International Raceway to scout for the best of the best in the karting world.For an entry fee of $3,000, the top karters in the world will compete in the 2014 Skip Barber Racing School Karts to Cars Scholarship Shootout at Sebring International Raceway on October 28-30.

Last year’s winner, Luke Gabin, won a fully-funded ride into the Skip Barber Racing School Race Series where he will get the chance to compete against other talented drivers in pursuing his motorsports dreams. Gabin will travel to California this month to compete in his first race as well as to redeem his 2-Day training simulation from RaceCraft1.

“The shootout has been the highlight of my Motorsports career and I am extremely glad I have been given this opportunity by SkipBarberRacingSchool and my parents. It was a steep learning curve, but taking feedback from experienced instructors and applying it was very rewarding. The shootout was extremely competitive and I’m looking forward to competing in a season of Skip Barber,” said Gabin.

In addition to numerous development opportunities, the drivers will compete for scholarships into the 2014-15 Skip Barber Racing School Race Series presented by Mazda. Observed by a panel of motorsports experts, the talented young karters will be coached as they go through a series of tests both on and off the racetrack.

Effective Listening and Ability to Apply Feedback

Participants will also take part in the following seminars:
Media Training
Driver Development
Sponsorship
Business Basics

Competitors will also gain exposure from the event, with constant media coverage of the shootout.

The Skip Barber Racing School Karts to Cars Scholarship Shootout is exclusively for karters with no professional auto racing experience and no SkipBarberRacingSchool race event experience. Racers who do not meet the requirements below can elect to participate in the Skip Barber Racing School Summer or Winter Race Series to qualify for the Race Series Championship Shootout, which awards a grand prize MAZDASPEED Scholarship for USF2000.

By limiting the field to strictly karters, SkipBarberRacingSchool returns to the core commitment of providing scholarship opportunities for karters to advance to professional racing via the SkipBarber RacingSchool ladder and also the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development ladder. An integral part of the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development ladder and the Mazda Road to Indy, Skip Barber Racing School allows racers to  advance through its system of race schools and race series with the possibility  of earning scholarships to move up to the next level at the conclusion of each championship.

The winner of the Skip Barber Racing School Karts to Cars Scholarship Shootout will receive a full scholarship to compete in the full 2014-2015 Skip Barber Race Series of their choice. The other top four drivers will receive scholarship funds to compete in 2013 Skip Barber Race Series events. The robust scholarship packages associated to the event are part of the $680,000 of driver enhancement scholarships SkipBarberRacingSchool events and race series reward to talented racers from around the world in 2015.

Skip Barber Racing School Karts to Cars Scholarship Shootout Awards:
1st place: Full Season in the Skip Barber Racing School 2014-2015 Winter or 2015 Summer Series presented by Mazda
2nd place: $15,000 Race Series Scholarship
3rd place: $10,000 Race Series Scholarship

*All scholarships funds are spread out over each race event throughout the course of the 2013 season, and cannot be applied to only a few select events. Prizes are non-transferrable and the awards are subject to event rules, available on our website.
