Three Sets of Bridgestones, Van-K Wheels and More Money Posted for WKA Kershaw Gold Cup

Senior Pro Gas Animal now $500 to win each day

The Carolina Clash presented by Jammer Clutches & Performance North is set for a huge weekend October 4-6 at CarolinaMotorsportsPark in Kershaw, South Carolina.

On Tuesday a $700 purse was announced for Sunday’s Animal Medium main event, which will pay $500 to the winner and $200 to second, sponsored by GT Machine and MGM Chassis Co.

Also on Tuesday a pair of special awards for Senior Pro Gas Animal was announced. The Hard Charger Award will pay $250 each day to the driver who can advance the most positions in each Senior Pro Gas points class main event.

Now, more money has been added to the Senior Pro Gas Animal purses!

Rather than the originally announced $300-to-win Friday Senior Pro Gas and Saturday Senior Pro Gas and $500 to win on Sunday, each Senior Pro Gas main event will now pay $500 to win.

Friday’s Animal Heavy Money Race will pay $500 to the first Pro Gas-powered kart across the line with $200 and $100 going to second and third place. For Saturday’s Senior Pro Gas points class, another $500 will go to the victor with $200 and $100 to second and third, respectively. Sunday’s Senior Pro Gas headliner will have another $500 going to the winner and $200 and $100 again to second and third.

Including the $500 up for the Hard Charger awards, this brings the Senior Pro Gas Animal purse to a whopping $2,900 plus a $700 purse for Animal Medium.

Three Sets of Bridgestone Tires Posted

Grand Products of Bensalem, Pa., has posted three sets of Bridgestone tires to three different class winners at Kershaw. Tires will be on site at Kershaw and awarded to each winner the day of the event.

A set of Bridgestone YLC 4.50×5″ front/rear will go to the second-place finisher in Sunday’s Sportsman Pro Gas Animal 2 feature event. The reason the second-place finisher will win the tires is because the feature winner will win the big prize for the weekend, which is a set of Bridgestones for each Gold Cup national in 2014.

A set of Bridgestone YLC 4.50×5″ front and 6.00×5″ rear will go to the winner of Sunday’s Junior Medium main event at Kershaw.

And a set of Bridgestone YLC 4.50×5″ front and 7.10×5″ rear will go to the winner of Sunday’s Animal Amateur Medium main event. The senior Amateur class is open to any senior driver who has never won a WKA national championship.

Van-K Wheels

Gold Cup Series sponsor Van-K Wheels, based in Denver, N.C., will be on hand at Kershaw with their parts trailer and a nice display. This will mark the first time Van-K owners Brian and Natalie Bass have attended a WKA Gold Cup national event.

Van-K has posted three certificates good for a set of wheels to three lucky racers at the Carolina Clash.

A set of Van-K wheels will go to the last kart running on the lead lap in three classes at Kershaw. Titled the “Last Kart Running” award, this is defined as the last-place driver still on the lead lap at race’s end.

The Van-K Last-Kart Running Award will be presented to the last kart running on the lead lap in Saturday’s Sportsman Pro Gas Animal 1, Sunday’s Junior Medium and Sunday’s Senior Pro Gas Animal 2 main events.

Friday Night Shootouts

The Sportsman Pro Gas and Junior Pro Gas 10-lap shootouts will take center stage Friday evening after practice and before the big Animal Heavy Money Race.

For the third Gold Cup national in a row the Sporstman Pro Gas Animal Shootout winner will take home a cool ECX radio-controlled truck. The RC truck award has been a big hit at Camden and Pittsburgh and will be another good award at Kershaw.

The winner in the Sportsman and Junior Pro Gas Shootout will win a special marble cup trophy and the top-five finishers will receive trophies. And all participants in both races will get a $20 gift card redeemable at either GT Machine or Michigan Kart Supply.
