Team News: Checkered Motorsports – Great Lakes Sprint Series Preview
The final round of the Great Lakes Sprint Series will be held at PittsburghInternationalRacewayPark. Checkered Motorsports looks to take advantage of their home track, capitalizing with wins. The PCR chassis as shown dominance here in the past and should be no different for the next upcoming races.
Ian Hornish, Savannah Fitzgerald, and John Paul Southern Jr. are contesting in the Sportsman division. Hornish has done some one on one testing with 5 time national champion Robert Bujdoso, and should be quick out of the box. On the other hand, Southern Jr. has shown consistent fast pace all year long and earned himself a main event win in the first round of the series. Fitzgerald running in Yamaha Sportsman and Cadet Sportsman is going to take advantage of the track time and hopes to have her best finish yet.
The TaG field consists of Kyle Smith, Andrew Bujdoso, and newcomer David Carmendy. Carmendy has seen success in the Stars of karting rankings. Switching from a CRG chassis, it should take no time for the 25 year old to adjust to the PCR Mxk8 chassis. Smith and Bujdoso have shown dominance in the local series as well as the Gear Up F-Series. Smith went off to win two of his three heats by over 2 seconds.
The team will be contesting in the WKA Manufacturers Cup Series, Great Lakes Sprint Series, USPKS Series, SKUSA Supernationals, and the Pitt Race Karting Series. Tech support, transportation, and arrive and drive opportunities are available.
