Summer is heating up at the Red Line Oil Karting Championship

Red Line Oil Karting Championship logoAs the summer heats up, so will the competition in all of the classes of the Red Line Oil Karting Championships. Great racing is what you can expect this coming weekend as drivers in Race #5 in the championship will be challenged by the tight Reverse Sprint configuration. The GoPro Hero featured class will be Senior Rotax.

In the Micro and Mini Max classes, the fields have not only been the largest in series history, but the competition is very strong at the top of the class. Three drivers in each of these classes are making for some exciting racing. In Micro Max, Aiden O’Neill, Gino Sandoval and Dustin Salaverria are mixing it up while in the Mini Max class, veteran Horatio Fitz Simon is being pressed by Matteo Sandoval and Tomas Mejia. The JMJ Junior Rotax continues to be the largest and strongest class in the series with Enzo Prevost and Michael Avansino splitting the wins in the first 4 races. But there are several other drivers right behind including Annie Breidinger, Jaden Conwright and Micheal Michoff that are close to taking over the top spot on the podium. In the senior classes, Pro Stock Honda, Rotax Masters and IAME TaG also have multiple drivers competing for the top spots. Jason Toft, Nic LeDuc and Daniel Langon are the front runners in Pro Stock Honda. In Rotax Masters, the three most consistent drivers at the front have been Geoff Wise, Jeff Smith and last years champ Scott Ripslinger. The spec gear IAME TaG class has Bryson Guzman and Maxx Marian battling for the top spot in wins and in points. And in the featured class, Senior Rotax, Jarrett Lile is being pressed each race by newcomer Daniel de la Calle.

The weekend will start with the Practice day on Saturday which will also feature the Highly technical EVO electric kart classes, this class is the first of its kind in the world and continues to break new ground in the motorsports world! Also on Saturday the Simraceway “arrive and drive” series will return with full fields. All other classes will be able to get in as many as 8 practice sessions during the day. Practice starts at 8:30 AM and runs to 6:00 PM. Registration will open at 7:30 AM. Practice is open to all drivers who have a kart that meets current karting safety specs and the drivers are up to normal racing speeds. Cost is $50.

The Sunday Raceday begins at 8:10 AM with a quick round of practice for the 9 race groups followed by a 5 lap group Qualify, two 8 lap Pre-Mains and a 15 lap Main. Registration will open at 6:45 AM. Race Entry is $100, $10 for transponder rental if needed, $10 for all crew and spectators, kids under 12 years old is $5. All sign-ins are at the admin building on the right side as you enter Sonoma Raceway, look for the Red Line Registration sign.

Parking will be tight at this race, both on Friday and Saturday. We have pre-assigned some areas and ask for your cooperation with the RLOKC staff that will be coordinating the parking. All personal vehicles must be parked outside of the paddock area.

Please note we will be using 2013 Carb rules at this race!!!

We will be providing Rev Limiters for Mini Max at this race. We will issue them on Friday so competitors can test with them. They will be required for the Saturday races and then returned to RLOKC at the end of the event.
