Series News: MMX Karting Challenge Round Five Celebrates Race Dads With Father’s Day Breakfast, Rental Kart Race

Mooresville Motorplex MMX logoThe MMX Karting Challenge club racing series will return to Mooresville Motorplex (MMX) for Round Five on Father’s Day, this Sunday, June 16. Special for Round Five, MMX will celebrate all race dads with a Father’s Day breakfast and Rental Kart race.

MMX Father’s Day breakfast will include light refreshments served from 8:30-10:00 a.m. in the registration building. MMX will also host a special eight-lap rental kart race exclusive to fathers that will run during the lunch break at 1 p.m. The race will be scored by lap time, with the fastest dad taking home the win! The field will be capped at 10 entrants and registration is free, so sign your dad up at the registration counter on the day of the event to reserve him a spot!

The MMX Karting Challenge features club racing for 13 popular karting classes and will follow a race day schedule with on-track activity beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Round Five of the MMX Karting Challenge will consist of two rounds of practice, qualifying, prefinal and final races for all classes.

Pre-registration will only be available until 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 15. Registration will be $60 for every class. If you register for more than one class, each additional class registration will only be $40.

Competitors are encouraged to register early, but event registration will be available on the day of the event. However, event registration on the day of the event will increase to $75 per class.

All competitors must run a transponder, if you do not have your own, you will be able to rent one from MMX on the day of the event for $20. All transponder rentals must be purchased with a credit card.

There will be a $10 Facility Entrance Fee for all spectators and crew members. Individuals who have a MMX Membership and competitors will not be charged a Facility Entrance Fee. Kids 10 and under will be free.

MMX will offer camping to any teams wishing to stay inside the MMX facility for $25 per night. Camping at MMX does not include any electrical or water hookups.

Live timing/scoring is also available through the Race Monitor application for Smart Phones. Simply type “MMX Karting Challenge” in the search bar.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Just a reminder about the announcement made last Friday, June 7: The doubleheader weekend for Rounds Six and Seven of the MMX Karting Challenge, previously scheduled for July 20 and 21, has been CANCELLED and will not be rescheduled.
