Series News: Stock Car Steel/SRI Championship Series Round Four to Feature Car Show, June 12

Stock Car Steel-SRI MMX logoThe Stock Car Steel/SRI Championship Series will return Wednesday night, June 12 for Round Four of the five-week series. Special for Round Four will be a Car Show in the parking lot expected to feature race cars, classic cars, motorcycles and vintage go-karts from various museums and personal owners from around the Mooresville area. The Top-Three “Fan Favorite” Award vehicles will win a pace lap around MMX’s 0.7-mile, 11-turn, state-of-the-art race track during opening ceremonies along with many other prizes.

Stock Car Steel/SRI Championship Series Car Show –
The Stock Car Steel/SRI Car Show will be a featured event within the Stock Car Steel/SRI Championship Series Round Four racing action. The Car Show festivities will begin at 4 p.m., with a brief awards ceremony at 7 p.m. and gates closing at 9 p.m. The Car Show is open to the public and vehicle registration will be by walk-up entry on the day of the event; no pre-registration is available. There is no fee to enter a vehicle in the show, however, all vehicle owners and spectators will be ask to pay a $10 spectator admission charge. Kids 10 and under are free. The admission charge will cover not only the car show, but also admission to the Stock Car Steel/SRI Championship Series Round Four.

Registration for the show will begin promptly at 4 p.m. and will run throughout the night. All vehicles must be entered by 6 p.m. to be considered for the Fan Favorite Award. The Fan Favorite Award will be done through a ballot voting process by spectators. The top-three Fan Favorite vehicles will be announced and awarded during the race night’s Opening Ceremonies at 7 p.m. The top-three vehicles will be awarded a pace lap around the MMX race track that is typically exclusive to just karts. Other prizes include an O’Reilly Auto Parts car wash kit, car wash certificates, restaurant gift cards, passes to Memory Lane Museum, various collectors’ items and many more.

Several food vendors will be on hand during the night, including the Juan Taco Truck and Italy Cafe. Prices are set individually by the food vendors.

Stock Car Steel/SRI Championship Series Round Four –
Round Four will run according to the reformatted schedule from Round Three. The first on-track activity will be at 5 p.m. with TaG Masters practice. The running order for the final events will now be: TaG Masters, TaG Senior, Rental Heavy and then Rental Light. A pre-event drivers meeting for both TaG and Rental League competitors will be at 4:45 p.m.

Each Wednesday night segment of the Stock Car Steel/SRI Championship Series consists of two practice sessions, a qualifying session and final races under the lights for each TaG class. The Light and Heavy Divisions of rental kart league racing will have three heat races, each scored for points. A champion will be crowned in each division after the completion of the five-week series on June 19. Gates open at 3 p.m. with final races set to begin at 7:30 p.m.

There will be a $10 Facility Entrance Fee for all spectators and crew members. Individuals who have a MMX membership will not be charged a Facility Entrance Fee. Competitors will only be charged for their Stock Car Steel/SRI Championship Series event registration fee. Kids 10 and under are FREE!

Stock Car Steel/SRI Trophy Build-Off Competition Voting –
Once again this week, competitors and fans will be able to view the Stock Car Steel/SRI Build-Off Competition trophies in the MMX registration building and on our Twitter and Facebook pages. They can then vote for their favorite trophy by ballot voting onsite, ‘liking’ the trophy picture on Facebook or using Twitter hash tags. If you choose to vote on Twitter, be sure to mention @MMX_Karting and include the trophy’s hash tag you wish to vote for in your tweet: #StockCarSteelSeriesWilson, #StockCarSteelSeriesJess, #StockCarSteelSeriesRandy. Fans and competitors can submit a tweet vote once a day until June 18.

The trophy with the most ballot votes, Facebook ‘Likes’ and Tweets by June 18 at 5 p.m. will be given to the TaG Masters Champion, while the second and third place trophies will be awarded to the TaG Senior division second and third place drivers in the championship standings during Champions Night on June 19. The three fabricators will be awarded their prizes on June 19 as well, which will include gift cards to both Stock Car Steel/SRI and MMX.

Competitor Race Registration, Format and Rules –
Registration for the Stock Car Steel/SRI Series Round Four will be available in the MMX registration building on Wednesday for $60 for TaG divisions and $95 for the Rental League classes. The Rental Kart League Light and Heavy divisions are each capped at 22 entrants per week. Pre-registration for the Rental Kart League will open up at 9 a.m. on Wednesday by either calling the office, 704-696-2926, or walk-in payment.
