Club News: GSKA Donates to Oklahoma Tornado Relief Fund

During the World Famous GSKA Night Race held on June 1st at the Lamar County Speedway in Barnesville GA, pole-sitters Matt Kessinger and Jim Hanson agreed to start at the back of their respective classes, in exchange for donations to the Oklahoma Tornado Relief Fund.

Matt, who has dominated the WKA Senior Clone class this season, carved his way through the field and was challenging for the lead when he had a spectacular brake failure with just a lap or two to go. Matt ended up finishing last.

Three time past WKA National Champ Jim Hanson started at the back of the Yamaha Senior class, and set a new track record while making his way through field of eight Yamaha drivers. He was not able to get the win, however, being held off for second place by another past National Champ, Dickey Wilson.

As great as the racing was, the important part is that between donations and matching funds from the GSKA, $700 was donated to the Lawrence Drive Baptist Church Tornado Relief Fund. One hundred percent of the funds will go directly to help those people in need in Oklahoma.

If you would like to donate, you can contact the Lawrence Drive Baptist Church or go online and find a suitable donation site.
