$1600 Cash Purse Announced for Route 66 Sprint Series Yamaha Junior Shootout at South Bend
The Russell Karting Specialties/L & T Manufacturing Route 66 Sprint Series presented by Bridgestone/Margay and Grand Products is holding a special money race for the Yamaha Junior class on Saturday evening, June 15 at Jet Karting (formerly Michiana Raceway Park). The first annual Yamaha Junior Shootout sponsored by the QPS Employment Group will award $1600 in cash along with a set of Bridgestone YLC tires. Everyone entered in this class is entered into a drawing for a set of Bridgestone YLC tires. Special trophies will also be awarded to the top three finishers. This event is paired up with round two of the Route 66 Sprint series based in the Mid-West. Jet Karting, located near South Bend, IN is the hosting track for this event, which is sponsored by Prokup Media Printing Services.
The Yamaha Junior Shootout qualifying and race will take place after completion of the regular Saturday Route 66 Series class finals at approximately 6:00 pm. The race is open to all Yamaha Supercan Junior drivers ages 12 to 15 with WKA rules and a class weight of 320 lbs. The class will utilize the RLV 7548 SSX spec can. The spec tire will be the Bridgestone YLC compound. Sunoco 110 spec fuel will be available for sale at the track. All competitors’ engines should be sealed by the series tech man prior to qualifying.
The Yamaha Junior Shootout format will consist of a 10 minute qualifying session where each entrant’s best timed lap will be used to set the lineup for the 20 lap final. The fast qualifier will win a set of Bridgestone YLC tires. After a short break and driver introductions, the 20 lap Yamaha Junior Shootout will begin. Payout for the top five is 1st – $500, 2nd – $400, 3rd – $300, 4th – $200, 5th – $100 and Fast Time $100.
The entry fee for the Yamaha Junior Shootout is $100. Pre-entry forms are available on the series web site, http://www.Route66KartRacing.com and should be post-marked by May 27th.
