Team News: Kartwerks Pilots Shine at PRK Race 2

KartWerks logoIt was a busy day for the Kartwerks crew with several drivers in action for the second round of the Pitt Race Karting Series. This event was a reverse direction race which was a first for many of the drivers but the guys still brought home wins, poles and fast times!

Alex Lester had a solid day in Cadet qualifying fourth and posting fast time in the pre-final and second best time in the final on the way to a third place finish. Also on a Praga Piccolo once again was Luca Mars who qualified on Pole in Yamaha Rookie by 1.4 seconds and won the prefinal by nearly ten seconds. In the final Luca finished second to Nico Montileone as the two traded fast laps throughout the race.

Charlie Osborne and Randy D’Amato had good runs in the TAG class interrupted by some mechanical issues but not before each had run as high as sixth place in the Prefinal and Final respectively.

Andy Schlosser wore several hats over the course of the weekend coaching Yamaha Junior driver Evan Fritts, who was running his first reverse direction race, to a thrilling win in Yamaha Junior. Andy also pulled on the drivers suit to shake down a new Praga Dragon with the Yamaha Pipe package, sweeping the pre-final and final events. It was his first time back in a Yamaha in several years but he was excited about the new combo, “The new Yamaha worked great with the Dragon. I can’t wait to get some more drivers out on this package to do more testing and racing!”

Ayden Bravo made his debut with Kartwerks as well this weekend running an Arrive & Drive program in the Yamaha Junior class. Ayden is an accomplished indoor racer from Allsports Grand Prix where he competes regularly with Kartwerks team driver Griffin Kunz. The learning curve was very short for Ayden as he diced with Evan throughout the Prefinal and Final swapping the lead more than a dozen times over the two races. We look forward to Ayden joining us for more races throughout the season!

“It was a great weekend for all of our team drivers and programs. Despite having just a few events under our belts as a team, the pieces are really coming together nicely. This weekend we continued with our on track development and success but I’m really proud of how strong our Coaching and Arrive & Drive programs worked”, noted Dan Schlosser. “I’m really looking forward to getting back to Mooresville Motorplex this coming weekend for the inaugural United States Pro Kart Series event with both Griffin and Andy at the wheel!”
