I was wondering, for the chassis mfr. cup race, if a Monza kart wins, do they count that as a Birel win?
if a Kosmic kart wins, does that count as a Tony Kart win?
just wondering how they treat those karts that are made by the same mfr. but have a different name.
also, if they have a chassis mfr. cup, why do they not do an engine builders cup?
just curious. hopefully someone out there knows the answer |

Wow, appears some of you folks didn't have fun at your race at NJMP. Us road racers on the big track had an absolute ball. No big manu. tents, no paid drivers, no rough driving (well to a point anyway). We had a great turn out, great weather, and some truely fine motor racing. It was FUN!! Isn't that why we all do this? If it isn't for fun, what's the point.
The road race world is different. Maybe because our speeds are SO much higher we tend to take care of each other more. NONE of us are looking for a F1 contract! We just love to race!
If Man Cup needs an attitude change, come hang out at a road race some weekend, and see what laid back, fun, friendly, high speed, respectful racing is all about. AND the BEER Friday and Sat. night is truely the finest!!
We all had a GREAT time!! Man Cup can be the same if you want it to be.
Just something to think about.

Tom if your son was fortunate to make it to nascar would you still call it nascrap. If he won the championship but no races would you tell him he's not a champion. I THINK NOT. You would be in the front row wearing a I Love nascar shirt bragging to all your freinds that your son was a champion. _________________ Mad Mike |

Oh, and by the way, at our WKC Sat. night cook out (I guess about 100 folks showed up) we had some absolutely great home made beer, made by one of our drivers, AND lots of home made food!! Great stuff!!! I could have taken 5 pounds of weight off my kart for Sundays race!!!

Glade you guys at the "BIG TRACK" had fun. Sprint racing is allot different than holding a kart flat out on a track it was never intended for. |

I'm going to have to start hanging out in your pit area Clark, I think most road racers carry your attitude towards things but not all. _________________ Intrepid.Moto |

Hey Kevin, It was great to see you and Chris this past week end. I wish Chris could have stayed for the race because Ashley would have benefited from his talent in areas that he is more familiar with. |

Evidently fun is not in the list of things that you race for. I guess I keep forgetting that sprint racing is not about fun but is the path to the big time. Not!!
There is a whole lot more to road racing than holding a kart flat out, some real racing stuff like strategy, tire management, real drafting, and the sack to hold it wide open in a blind 100+ MPH corner. _________________ Greg Wright

Greg,
Been there done that, and Chris won your grand national at it. Like I said, glad you guy's had fun on the "Big Track", just not how we define fun (kinda like taking a knife to a gun fight).
Oh and Greg, sprint racing is one of the paths to the "Big Time", if you don't believe that just look up the background of any successful driver out there. Oh thats right, your not looking for success. Y'all just keep having fun on the "Big Track" lol |

Another thing that makes no sense. What tracks will you run "when" you make it to the "Big Time?" The tracks we run on, sure as hell not the ones that are 1/2- 1/4 the size.
We will keep having fun on the "big tracks"
Guess we will have to check Ganassi's driver list for next year for the "Big Timers" that moved up.
This subject has been gone over a million times, and there is no answer. We have fun doing what we do, you can have fun contacting Penske for a ride next year. _________________ Sig |

Folks, I apologize for hijacking your thread. That was not the intent, believe me.
Since you folks were on the F1 track and we were on Lightning, I simply wanted to read over your posts and see how your weekend went. I normally do not follow Man Cup, as I’m sure you don’t care a lot about road racing either. And that’s fine.
But what I noticed were several posts which expressed some negative feelings about what went on at the event. I also stopped by to visit some of our Man Cup friends, and during our visit I heard some very angry comments from a father about a previous race. I wasn’t there long, but I got the impression that most competitors tend to stay to themselves, or with a specific group, or manufacturers tent. Just an impression, I could be totally wrong.
I was simply stating road racers tend to be very friendly, laid back, and more open to each other. I suspect a CRG mechanic would not be very welcome in the Birel tent at a Man Cup event. That is just not the case in road racing. It’s not uncommon to spend hours in a fellow competitors pit late into the night helping them get ready for the following days race. Even though they may kick your butt because of the help you gave them. I did the engine tear down on a fellow racers engine in tech. Her Dad was in the next race and just couldn’t be there himself. (Just what I needed, two engines to take apart!! And my Son was in the next race too, Geeez). I’m sure those kinds of things happen at sprint races too, but it’s very common on the RR side.
And yes, you’re right, nearly all current pro drivers started in karts. (As a note, I’d venture a guess that about 50-75% of road racers started in sprints) BUT, and this is big, they all went though FF, F2000, F Mazda, FA, Indy Lights, F3, F2, micro sprints, midgets, sprint cars, dirt mods, late models, etc, etc, etc, or whatever; before they got the big NASCAR, Indy Car, GrandAm, ALMS, or F1 deal. And out of every 500 kart racers, maybe, MAYBE 1 will make the big time. So all I was saying was, at this level, have fun!!!
AND, Sean Conlon makes some GREAT beer!!!
Have a good day folks,
Clark. |
