I was wondering if in fact F-1 was to return to the USA what would your choice of support events be and WHY I am very impressed with what the folks in the land of OZ do at the F-1 VENUE . Not sure the GP2 contingent would come over ,so So whom should it be _________________ Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways totally worn out, shouting, "Holy **** what a ride!!!". |

Jim M: Surprisingly karts have raced at F-1 support races before. Albeit the last I recall they were superkarts that ran 3 years ago at the French GP " Magny- Cours " What class would you run if it were limited to 1 class _________________ Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways totally worn out, shouting, "Holy **** what a ride!!!". |

| Karts have even run as a supporting event in the USGP. Twin-engine laydown karts ran at the first few years of the Long Beach Grand Prix. Helped a guy named Scott Pruett rise to fame anf fortune. |

We were a support race for Grand Am at Barber their first three years at Barber, 04 to 06. It was a tight schedule but we got a good bit of track time and it was a lot of fun. Pruett even came out there to catch a few glimpses of the twin laydowns. I think someone even tried to get him to go ride one but I think that was some kinda no no. _________________ R3 --- (Robby Harper III)

Robby H : It would appear that the joint venture between Grand-Am ,Indy Car and Barber for first time seems to have been a success. Do you think it will be continued the same down the road or will the respective series come back as stand alone events _________________ Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways totally worn out, shouting, "Holy **** what a ride!!!". |

With Grand Am being owned by NASCAR, and the marketing power behind them, Indy Car should try to get as many companion dates as possible. It will only help them in the long run. Better TV coverage would also help. I know VS is owned by ABC and Bernard has said there is future talks of getting back on national network TV. _________________ Driver: Chloe St. George

Well Indycar signed a three year contract for Barber to be their lone Southeast region race. So they will for sure be at Barber for 3 years. GrandAM has a long standing contract with Barber since they were the first race there in 2003. I think they are locked in with Porsche Sports Cars America to sponsor the Porsche 250 there until 2015 at least. Porsche's driving school is homed at Barber so I don't see that dissolving anytime soon.
Initially, neither Indycar or GrandAm wanted to play second fiddle there but I guess Zoom (promotes Barber races) talked them both into it. They both need to expand their fan base so both series agreed to the single weekend deal. They had over 80K fans this weekend so financially it was a success for all involved. Easily the biggest crowds I've seen to date at Barber. I think they will probably come back together on the same weekend deal as money talks, but nothing definate yet. _________________ R3 --- (Robby Harper III)

Comcast owns Versus. There is no connection to ABC. ABC is owned by Disney who also owns ESPN. The ICS coverage on Vs is much better than anything that's been on network in the last several years. I'd rather see them keep it in Vs. _________________ It's a cross between a chick car and a shifter kart

I'm with you there!
Vs. also has a pretty good webcast setup; I wish F1 had something that good. _________________ John Denman

I really like Versus coverage. Even if they are not owned by ABC/Disney the races have the feel of watching Indycar races in the late 80's/early 90's when the telecast was great and they have Bob Jenkins and Jon Beakus (sp?) whom I've always liked doing races. I can't even watch the start of a cup race anymore with Mr. Boogity, boogity, boogity. Man that is freakin annoying. I wish they'd let Mikey do the Cup stuff instead of trucks, he is surprisingly good. _________________ R3 --- (Robby Harper III)
