Great idea guys, IMO, these are the type of race series that there should be more of. Set-up and driver ability, instead of motor or equipment advantage. What is the prize money for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams?

| Sounds like a real cool deal, thats if promoted correctly. If they can get atleast 20 teams there it'll be one heck of a race. I'll try and run it depending on whats going on. |

So, $5000 worth of equipment, and $10,000 entry fee ?? |

Doesn't sound like a bad idea. If they have a big man's seat in one of the karts I'm game.
Presto can I be on your team?

This from the event info:
* You KEEP the CRG/Rotax Max racing kart after the event
* 10 Drivers per team sharing the driving and the cost
* Custom graphics to suit your team and your sponsors
* Matching custom team driving suits for all 10 members
* The event will be taped and aired on national television
* Team race crews to handle all vehicle event maintance
* All spares, race tires, spec fuel & parts are included
* Drivers passes, VIP Guest passes & Insurance included
* All team members housing, meals and banquet included
* Signage space and general admission passes to sponsors
Since ten people can't share the single kart after the event, it's still kind of pricey, IF you are planning on paying the individual fee yourself. But, the idea is to get a corporate sponsor!! I'll be suprised if it's not sold out before the new year.

I have to add what I have learned here. I spoke with the guys at SSC Arkansas and their primary goal for this event is to bring Corporate America into the world of karting. The gentleman said something very profound on the phone. Forgive me for not remembering his name, but he said:
"Somewhere out there in Corporate America is the R.J. Reynolds of the karting world. And hopefully through this event we can find that company."
I asked about prizes and he said at this point, there are no definite prizes and that anyone wanting to become sponsors to provide prizes, etc. would be very welcome. In addition, he mentioned that they plan on having a Manufacturer's Midway where the sponsors can exhibit their wares and services.
He also stated that they were working on a deal with ESPN to have the finished production run (3) times on National Television.
Following up on the corporate sponsor thing imagine being able to offer a business/sponsor National Television exposure with dedicated signage, graphics, and uniforms for under $15,000. And in reality, they get to keep the kart so it's closer to $11,000. That has to be a goldmine I would think.
I can see it now 400 drivers, and who knows how many spectators... Sounds like a WIN, WIN, WIN situation for everyone involved.
just my pair of pennies...

Heck if Preston can give you a buck, and I'm guessing he's on the team? Then I'll give you $2 and Courtney and I will join as well. Deal? |

I am the Communications director of Kartways of Arkansas www.kartways.com, and SSC Racing of Arkansas www.sscracingofark.com (also the home of the Rotax Max OVAL Challenge)
The price covers everything, kart, tires, fuel, brake pads, extra motor if needed, driver suites, helmets, and even mechanics. All you do is show up and race! Its going to take a TON of money to put this thing on, plus we have to buy the Television time. It is targeted towards the Corporate America, the intent is to get corporate America involved in kart racing. I will assume the business or corporation that purchases a slot in the race (40 Karts will be available and some have already been sold) will determine who the drivers will be, its at their discretion.
All in all it should be a huge event and BIG shot in the arm for karting every where. |
